New Process!  Sports Physicals Paperwork
to be Completed Online
Students wishing to participate in athletics or marching band during the 2018-2019 school year must submit the following paperwork online:
            • PIAA Physical Form
            • Athlete & Parent Agreement
            • ImPACT Test
Students wishing to play any sport during the 2018-2019 school year MUST verify the paperwork is on file with Mr. Hayek no later than Wednesday, August 1 , at 3 PM; no exceptions.

NEW!! PLEASE NOTE THIS IMPORTANT CHANGE

The York Catholic Athletic Department now hosts their Athletic Forms online with Arbiter Athlete, powered by PlanetHS, a software company committed to keeping student(s) safe. This digital platform will allow parents and athletes to complete and access most athletic forms (physicals, agreements, etc.) via computer, tablet, or mobile phone. It is HIPPA, COPPA, and FERPA compliant.

York Catholic will continue to host Sports Physicals at OSS Health on Powder Mill Road next Thursday, June 7, from 6-7:30 PM.  Cost is $15.  Instead of printing 9 pages of information to take to the doctor as was needed previously, you will instead complete the information online and only print 2 pages for the doctor to review and complete.

Before forms can be completed by parent and student, ArbiterAthlete accounts must be set-up by each athlete and his or her parent. Click here for instructions on how to set-up an account. Forms will be valid for the entire 2018-2019 school year.

Failure to complete the online paperwork by the deadline will mean the student will not be permitted to practice the first day of the season. For some sports, this could mean the student will not make the team. Contact Mr. Hayek at  [email protected] or 717-846-8871 x244 if you have any questions and to be sure you have a valid ImPACT Test on file. If you need technical assistance with Arbiter Athlete/PlanetHS, email [email protected].
Nurses Needed
Volunteer nurses and coaches are needed for Physical Night at OSS on Thursday, June 7. Nurse duties include taking blood pressures, pulses, and respiration rates. Coaches will check athletes in and out and measure heights and weights. If you are interested, contact Kyle Smink at [email protected] .
Senior Pictures
Each year YC enters into a contract with a professional photographer, Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch, for the senior pictures appearing in our yearbook, Rosa Mystica. All senior yearbook photos must be taken by Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch.  Pictures from any other photographer cannot be accepted for the yearbook.  Junior parents will be receiving mailed information from Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch with instructions regarding guidelines and the scheduled date and time of your student's senior picture at the Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch Studio located in the air conditioned YC cafeteria (June 11 and 18). Please arrive prior to your scheduled appointment so you are ready for your assigned time. If you did not receive a postcard, please call Lifetouch at 1-800-445-1189.

Every senior must get their picture taken, however, seniors are under no obligation to purchase the photo. If desired, students can purchase yearbook photo packages from Lifetouch. Lifetouch contributes a portion of package purchases back to York Catholic.

Please observe the following guidelines regarding appearance for photos. All gentlemen must be clean shaven and wear a dress shirt, tie, and sport coat or suit jacket. Hair must be regulation length.  No piercings are allowed. Ladies will be provided with a black shoulder drape for photos. Only necklaces and earrings are allowed for the yearbook picture of the young women.  Please remove any facial jewelry.

If you have any questions, please contact Lifetouch at 1-800-445-1189.
Summer Assignments
Reading
York Catholic High School views the development of life-long habits of reading as a hallmark of an educated man or woman, and it encourages each student to read widely throughout the year.  The school also recognizes the value of other on-going academic engagement during the summer months.  Summer reading and other intellectual activities serve to stimulate, to enrich, and to reinforce academic skills during the summer hiatus.  Each current student has received a packet with the assignments for summer reading.  The assignments are also available on the home page of the YC website at yorkcatholic.org in the Announcements section, titled, "Summer Assignments," and on the Forms & Documents page.  Each grade level's requirements are clearly explained and testing and/or projects are due at the start of the 2018-19 school year. Click  here for the list of books for the summer reading projects.

Math
Keeping students' math skills strong during the summer months helps to avoid the "summer slide" and aids in less review time when school resumes. Students should complete their Summer Math Assignments and return them by August 27.  The assignments are available on the home page of the YC website at yorkcatholic.org   in the Announcements section, titled, "Summer Assignments," and on the Forms & Documents page.
