"We are lucky to have so many amazing volunteers at Peterson Elementary," O.A. Peterson Elementary School Principal Justin Vercher said.  "One father in particular continues to dedicate much of his time to serve our students and teachers as one of our school's Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students).  Mr. Pledger has been a positive role model and a joy to have on campus.  He has also been a great encouragement to other dads to participate in our Watch D.O.G.S. program.  We are lucky to have him represent O.A. Peterson Elementary."

PIE Campuses of the Year
Partners in Education was pleased to recognize Lakeview and Chisholm Trail as the elementary and secondary PIE Campuses of the Year at appreciation events last month.  The campuses logged a combined 15,085 volunteer hours from May 1, 2017 through April 30, 2018.  Results have been determined based on total hours logged per student.  The current estimate for the value of a volunteer hour in Texas is $24.64, according to Independent Sector, the nation's largest non-partisan coalition of nonprofit organizations.  The volunteers of Lakeview Elementary and Chisholm Trail Middle School have contributed the equivalent of more than $371,000 to Northwest ISD.

NISD graduates receive scholarships through NEF
The Northwest ISD Education Foundation (NEF) is proud to award scholarships annually to help ensure graduating seniors continue their path to success, even after they leave the district.  NEF also partners with businesses, local organizations and individuals to create new scholarship and endowment opportunities for NISD students.  This year, the foundation and our community partners awarded scholarships totaling $48,700 to 29 graduates across the district's four high school campuses.  To read more about this year's scholarship recipients, click here.

Northwest ISD 2018-2019 Welcome

Be a part of welcoming back our Northwest ISD educators at two events:  New Teacher Breakfast and Convocation.  On August 13, NISD will welcome more than 300 brand new teachers to the school district at a breakfast with a message from Superintendent Ryder Warren, Ed.D.  On August 21, the district will kick off the new school year, pep rally style, for the annual Convocation event featuring student performers from Byron Nelson High School and Steele Accelerated High School.  More than 3,000 staff members will attend Convocation.  Your business/company can have a market table at one or both events.  Celebrate back to school with NISD!  For more information, contact NEF community relations specialist Alyssa Edstrom at [email protected] or 817-215-0084.
