Principal's Message
We had a beautiful celebration on Saturday, as our second grade students made their First Holy Communion. Congratulations to these angels as they received the Body and Blood of our Lord for the first time. It is my prayerful hope that they always remember this occasion and continue their development for understanding the joy, meaning, and fulfillment of the Holy Eucharist every time they receive this precious gift of our faith.

Also, please consider donating to the AngelsFest Bid-N-Buy Basket Bonanza! AngelsFest is the biggest fundraiser of the parish and we need your help to be successful. You can drop off any donations to the school office or rectory. A representative from the Bid-N-Buy committee will also be on hand before all Masses this weekend and next to accept your donation. Don't have time to shop for a specific item? We are also in need of Amazon gift cards to fill in basket items. Thank you for your support!

Finally, results of the IOWA Assessments will be sent home on Thursday for students in grades 1-7. These assessments were adminis tered in late March. I am very proud of the results of the assessments!

God Bless,
Corey

Principal Stoops Awarded St. John the Baptist Award
Congratulation to Mr. Stoops who was awarded the St John the Baptist Award from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati this week! The St. John the Baptist Award is given each year to a principal who truly “sticks his neck out” to introduce new and innovative programs into his school. Regardless of whether the program succeeds or, like St. John the Baptist, the principal becomes a martyr, this award recognizes courageous leadership and a willingness to consider new ideas. The recipient of the award is determined by the Catholic School Office with includes the superintendent and regional directors. Mr. Stoops is currently serving his seventh year as the principal of Guardian Angels School!

Deacon Christian Cone-Lombarte to be Ordained a Priest May 18th
Dear parishioners of Guardian Angels,

As you may know, Cincinnati’s Ordinations are fast approaching. The time since the beginning of my internship here at Guardian Angels has flown by for me, due in no small part to the privilege I’ve had of being involved here at the parish. I have been very happy to share these past couple of years with this community and I hope you know that you will all continue to be in my prayers as I begin my priestly ministry.

Of course, all of you are welcome to attend the Ordination Mass, which will take place at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains in downtown Cincinnati on Saturday, 18 May , at 11:00 am. As there will be nine of us being ordained for Cincinnati, I suspect it will be crowded: plan on being there early if you come!

I also wanted to invite all of you to assist at my first Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving, which I will be offering here at Guardian Angels the next day, Sunday, 19 May, at 12:00pm . I am very excited to be able to offer this Mass here, and I hope you can make it! There will be a light reception afterward at which I will be happy to offer first blessings as well.

Until then, please continue to keep me in your prayers as I will keep you in mine.

Yours in Christ,
Deacon Christian Cone-Lombarte

Shoe Drive Next Week
During the week of May 13 – 17 we will be holding a shoe drive for an organization called Water Step. Water Step is an organization that takes donated shoes in good condition and sell them to raise money to go towards building wells in Africa for those who have no water source. They also provide safe water solutions to areas impacted by disaster, as well as arm first-responders and survivalists with the equipment and knowledge to support those in need. If the shoes are not in good enough condition, the organization will recycle them. So, we encourage you to clean out your closets and bring in any old shoes you do not plan on using. There will be bins around the school for each grade to collect shoes; there will also be a bin in the parish center for parishioners to use.
Summer Math Books
Each student currently in grades K-7 will receive a Summer Solutions Math book to complete over the summer break. Books will be distributed to students on the final day of school. Each book costs $15 and is a requirement for all students to complete. Please begin sending in the $15 payment as soon as possible to your child's homeroom teacher.
Families with new students beginning the 2019-2020 school year, please contact the school office for their summer books .
