Message from the Principal
Lacey Moser

Dear Hart Families,

We have only 2 weeks until our 2nd annual campout! For all those camping, we will be sending out information about registration and check-in, the timeline of the evening, and activities and food. We have so many wonderful sponsors that have helped to ensure we are able to create an amazing experience for all of our campers. On top of our sponsors, we have many families and businesses that have donated items for our silent auction. Click here to view all of the items and bidding is now open.

Last year's campout provided $30,000 back to the district operating budget and almost $30,000 to Hart Elementary. We were able to put in water bottle fillers for students, a Gaga Pit on the playground, flexible furniture for the library, and an afternoon spanish class for over 90 students. We are using the remaining funds to update our playground equipment, including new storage for balls, hoola hoops, jump ropes, etc.

With the funds we earn this year, we will again provide $30,000 to the district operating budget which helps fund our campus security officers. With the funds coming to Hart, we will continue to offer after school Spanish classes, enhance technology, and bring in a Math Interventionist to help support math instruction.

Be safe in this crazy weather today!

With a Full HeART,
Lacey Moser

Fairness is one of those values that is so basic, yet can be incredibly challenging to act upon when dealing with children. It is a quality that must be constantly re-examined and reinforced as children encounter increasingly complex developmental stages and social situations.  We will be discussing fairness and equality in guidance over the next several weeks.

Play by the rules.
Take turns and share.
Be open-minded. Listen to others.
Don't take advantage of others.
Don't blame others carelessly.

Kids can often complain that things "aren't fair" when things don't work out as they want. One way to help teach fairness is to promote compromise. Compromise is creating a "win-win" situation and finding a balance between the different needs of individuals. Compromise is essentially an "I want, you want, we could" process. Depending on their age and/or maturity, some children will find compromise difficult. You may need to help them work through the issue. Keep in mind that you aren't just helping them get through the current disagreement, but teaching them a strategy for fairness that they will be able to use throughout their lives. T.E.A.M.

Tips for home

Teach: Talk to your child about compromise using the tool below.
Enforce: Consistently apply rules. Make expectations clear and predictable.
Advocate: Involve children in developing rules they are to follow.
Model: Be a good role model by compromising and being open-minded.

Music Notes

1st Grade Show Information

On Wednesday,May 1st, the 1st graders will be performing, Our Year in Music, in the Hart Elementary School GYM at 6:30pm. Your 1st grader has been practicing instruments and a collection of songs for this special event, and we hope you will enjoy our special production. Here are some things we want you to know:

  • Students need to meet in the MUSIC classroom at 6:15pm. Please be on time, so we have a chance to take attendance.
  • The show will last about 25 minutes.
  • After the concert, please remain seated until students exit gym. They will go to their HOMEROOM classroom for parent pickup. This will help with crowd control in the gym and will ensure that our students get home safely and quickly.
  • Students will need to wear their grade level t-shirt with jeans, khakis, black pants OR jean/khaki/black skirt. If your child does not have a grade-level t-shirt, your child may wear a light blue shirt.

If you have any questions or concerns about the concert, please call or e-mail Mrs. Czechowski. We encourage our students to make school events a priority; however, we realize that conflicts may occur. If you know that your child cannot attend the concert, PLEASE let Mrs. Czechowski know as soon as possible. This will help plan for and/or make adjustments to instrument parts as well as staging for the show. We appreciate your cooperation and support, and we look forward to seeing you on May 1st!

Message from the Nurse:

We are currently seeing mostly allergies, some strep and a virus that is lasting approx. 2-3 days-predominate symptoms seem to nausea/vomiting, headache, diarrhea and slight to moderate sore throat.

We ask that children be free from fever without medicine, diarrhea, or vomiting for 24 hours before returning to school to prevent illnesses from spreading. Fever is considered 100.0 or greater. If your child is absent from school, written documentation is needed. Please email Alis_Brantl@lovejoyisd.net and Heather_Bouska@lovejoyisd.net with the date and reason for the absence. Thanks for all you do at home to keep your children healthy and in school.

It is that time again... Please check the lost and found located by the stage in the cafeteria. Please be sure to label items. The Lost and Found is gone through weekly and items are reunited to the owners, if they can be identified.

Items left in the Lost and Found after the last day of school will be donated to Allen Community Outreach.

Thank you!

Late Night Leopards Campout is a district-wide fundraiser. The funds raised from the campout will directly impact ALL students at Lovejoy ISD. Any funds raised over $30,000 will benefit our Hart Elementary students directly! We are so appreciative of each and every one of you.

The campout is a ton of fun, but it is a ton of work as well. We are always looking for volunteers.  Please click here to see where your talents can be utilized.  We had so much fun last year and can only imagine the fun to be had this year.

Late Night Leopards Hart Camp Out registration closed on March 8, 2019.  We have had a few inquiries if families could still register. We do have a few spots available. Once the few remaining spots are filled, we will open a wait list. Please click here to register online. Paper registration forms are available in the front office

Lovejoy Offers Group Counseling

Lovejoy is offering group counseling for students for a variety of areas. The groups will meet weekly, during school hours, and will be facilitated by Lovejoy's Social Worker, Noelle Gove, LCSW. The overall goal of the counseling groups is to address student's social/emotional needs that may be impacting their experience and success at school. Groups are being offered, based on need, to every campus in the district, grades K-12.

If you are interested in your student participating in a group, please click here to complete the interest form. Noelle Gove will be in contact with parents regarding further details of the group and to obtain consent for student participation. This form is not a consent for counseling, but rather a survey of interest.
