Space Coast TPO, Brevard Schools Celebrate Bike to School Day
In coordination with the Space Coast TPO,  Brevard Public Schools  joined schools from around the country to celebrate National Bike to School Day on May 8, 2019.

Seventeen elementary schools participated in this year's national event.   Bike to School Day  encourages a nationwide bike-focused celebration for students in the month of May.

Bike to School Day events raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for bicycling and walking and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, bicycle/pedestrian safety, reducing traffic congestion and concern for the environment.

Thanks to our other local partners,  City of Cape Canaveral , Brevard reps from the Florida Department of Health  and Titusville Fire Dept. , for capturing photos of community events.

Local Trails Now Housing Emergency Location Markers
Emergency Location Markers (ELMs) use the National Grid System to describe the location of a person or incident to Emergency Services. ELMs are becoming more widely-used in remote areas. In Brevard, you’ll see ELMs around the  Kennedy Space Center  and along the East Central Florida Regional Rail Trail in  Titusville . Brush up on how to read one – just in case!  #SafetyFirst

Video Feature: Pledge to Slow Down
Speed kills. Driving slower can make the difference between life and death. Getting there safe is better than not getting there. Every driver, passenger, pedestrian and bicyclist is someone's loved one.
Pledge to slow down, today.
