Principal's Message

Families-

Congratulations to this year's Employees of the Year, Rachel Villalba and Nancy Kaye! Rachel and Nancy were honored at our WCSD Governing Board meeting on Monday night.

Her peers selected Rachel as our Teacher of the Year for her tireless work for our students in the TK-3 SDC class. Rachel meets every student where they are, and sets the model for treating every child with dignity and care.  We are impressed with her unfailing optimism, diligent work ethic, and positive outlook.

Her peers selected Nancy Kaye as a "Jane of All Trades, hardworking, organized, loving but firm. She manages multiple crises at a time, always with a smile and truly cares about kids.  She is just plain amazing.  She dedicates every moment to students and staff."

It's Teacher Appreciation Week, too, and I want to take this opportunity to thank the Murwood teachers and staff for their "all in" attitude when it comes to serving students and families every day of the year.  There is no harder working, more committed group than the Murwood family.  Thank you, Murwood PTA, for honoring our staff with lovely door decorations, incredible meals and positive affirmation of all the efforts that go into making Murwood the best school in the universe.

With appreciation,
Carol Nenni

Dear Families-

If in the coming months or during the summer your plans change and you will not be returning to Murwood for the 2019-20 school year, we ask that you please notify the office by email at [email protected]

Also, if your student WILL NOT be reporting to school on the first day, Wednesday, August 14th, you MUST notify the office in advance.  For enrollment purposes, all students need to be accounted for on the first day of school.

Please contact the office if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Book Fair Volunteers Needed
Volunteers make a difference and we need your help to pull off the best Dino-Mite Book Fair ever! Sign up here:

Read-a-thon Fundraiser
In conjunction with the upcoming Murwood Book Fair,
we will be running a 2019 Reading Raiser beginning TODAY until Thursday, May 22nd. A Reading-Raiser is like a jog-a-thon, except your child will be reading books instead of running laps, and earning pledges based on how much they read. Everything is tracked online, which makes inviting sponsors and logging reading much easier!

Prizes will be given for the most minutes read and the most donations collected. You child can win DinoDollars to spend at the Book Fair, a pizza party and extra recess for their  class, or the coveted Golden Book Trophy for their teacher and class, plus bragging rights for the year. Click here for more details.

Child-specific logins and instructions were sent home in today's Wednesday envelope. Your child will receive a private online account at https://fund.whooosreading.org/ where he/she will log reading. Your sponsors can also track their progress, and make comments and encourage your child online on the books they read. Follow this link to view instructions on how to use your parent account. Here's another link with a video on how to authorize your child's Reading-Raiser account.

Happy Reading & Fundraising!

Murwood's Annual Track & Field Day
Monday, June 3rd

This is an all day event of fitness and fun for grades 1-5 (TK/K enjoy their own activities organized by their teachers). It takes about 80 parent volunteers to make this day a success. It is a highlight of our school year for the kids and a great way to celebrate the end of the school year! Please consider joining us for as much time as you can spare... the kids love to see all of the cheering parents throughout the day!

* Please note,1st and 2nd graders will return to their classrooms after lunch. The afternoon activities are for grades 3-5 only.*

Click on the link to see if there is a slot (or two!) that work for you. If you have any questions, please contact Sabrina Jones at [email protected].

Murwood has received $350 in Box Top money this school year!    Thank you for all the submissions. Please keep bringing in the clipped box tops before school is out - the 4th and 5th grade leadership kids will count and organize them in late May.

Murwood's Spring Sing May 14 at 6pm
Thank you for supporting WCEF and our esteemed music specialist, Ron Jones. Your donations to WCEF ensure your children receive music weekly while many other districts are forced to eliminate these programs.  Confucius once stated, "Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without." - and we agree wholeheartedly. This night is for you to revel in the work that Ron does every week with your children. Show your support for music and donate today .
