Theatrical fundraiser closes in on a sell-out; still time to give a ticket to a cop!

A few tickets remain to Friday night's performance of Cabaret and a dinner beforehand at Playhouse On The Square. Reception begins at 6 p.m., with dinner starting at 6:15. The show is at 8.

It's also still possible to pay for a police officer and guest to attend. Payment is easy online. Tickets can be picked up at the reception desk in the lobby Friday evening.

One tip. One arrest.
Six felony cases cleared.

Investigators knew that one man was responsible for a series of thefts, burglaries and robberies all over the city in 2018 and warrants were issued for a man's arrest. But he proved elusive

Then came a tip in April this year that included a location for one Christopher Green. Police went to the address and arrested Green, who faces multiple charges on a hefty bond.

Few were surprised by the charging list at the Memphis Police Department. Green's arrest and conviction record is as long as his arm - but not long enough to stay clear of the long arm of the law.

Green was one of 21 arrested on felony charges in April thanks to tips from citizens. The award made to the tipster in Green's case: $500.

CrimeStoppers
by the numbers
in month of April

Altogether, 27 felony cases were cleared from Memphis Police records during April as the result of nearly two dozen successful citizen tips to CrimeStoppers.

Among the cases, tipsters identified two men wanted for attempted murder and provided the location of a fugitive in a homicide case.

Of 21 people arrested, five were women and 15 were on the local Most Wanted list of fugitives.

A total of $7,400 in cash payments were awarded to 19 people who contacted CrimeStoppers with tips. The tips were forwarded to law enforcement for action.
