ESTATE PLANNING WORKSHOP
SCHEDULED FOR WEDNESDAY, MAY 22
Believe it or not, you have an estate!
In fact, nearly everyone
does. Your estate is comprised of everything you own- your car, home, other real estate, checking and savings accounts, investments, life insurance, furniture, personal possessions, etc.
No matter how large or how modest, everyone has an estate and something in common-you can't take it with you when you die.
When that happens-and it is a "when" and not an "if"-you probably want to control how those things are given to the people or organizations you care most about. To ensure your wishes are carried out, you need to provide instructions stating whom you want to receive something of yours, what you want them to receive, and when they are to receive it.
You will, of course, want this to happen with the least amount paid in taxes, legal fees, and court costs.
Need some preliminary help in figuring out what steps to take? Then join us on Wednesday, May 22, as our Advancement Board is sponsoring an Estate Planning seminar in Rm. U 217-218 of the Ministry Center beginning at 6:00 p.m.
It will last approximately 90 minutes, including allotting
time for questions and answers.
Our presenter will be Dick Kuhn, a local attorney, parishioner, an alum of our school and whose four children are graduates of Saints Peter and Paul School.
His office is in downtown Naperville and he specializes in Estate Planning, Wills, Trusts, and Probate.
Topics to be covered include:
- Planning for now and in the future. Reviewing the need for core estate planning documents.
- Familiarizing yourself with terms like trusts, trustees, power of attorney, executor
- Importance of asset protection
- Different strategies and advantages of providing for charity through your estate plan
- Questions and Answers
