Want to be Clean & Green? Volunteer for Sweep in 2019!
ORSANCO will host its annual volunteer river cleanup event, the
Ohio River Sweep, on Saturday, June 15th. It's a fun time to enjoy the great outdoors, spend a day with your family and friends, and clean up
your river! There are over 100
locations along the Ohio River, so check out the spot that is closest to you and see just how easy it is to be green and clean!
Spring & Smiles! Meet our New Staff!
ORSANCO recently added two new staff members to our water team, Bridget Taylor and Jamie Tsiominas. Both are trained environmental scientists; Bridget will primarily manage data for our routine monitoring programs, and Jamie will help manage our Organics Detection System to monitor and detect volatile organic compounds in the river for protection of drinking water for public water supplies. Welcome Bridget and Jamie to the ORSANCO crew!

'Tis the Season for Monitoring!
Every year, ORSANCO staff monitors bacteria levels in six urban areas along the Ohio River in Pittsburgh, Wheeling, Huntington, Cincinnati, Louisville, and Evansville. Samples are analyzed for
E. coli bacteria to advise the public of the risks involved with recreation on the river. Increased risk of illness through accidental ingestion of contaminated water typically increases after significant rain events and flooding. Click
here for more information about ORSANCO's Contact Recreation program. Weekly water quality reports are also posted on ORSANCO's
website.
