Yvonne Dix

A Drakes Branch, Virginia native and Randolph-Henry High School graduate, Yvonne Dix didn't attend college straight out of high school but wanted her children to know that you can do anything when you set your mind to it. She taught them this by example when she enrolled at Southside Virginia Community College as a single parent with a full-time job. Balancing motherhood, work, and her studies, Yvonne was able to earn an Associate of Applied Science in Office Systems and Technology from SVCC.

Since completing her degree, Yvonne has worked as an Occupational Health Technician, a Safety Supervisor, and is now employed by W&L Mail Service, Inc. in Human Resources. She plans to keep up with changing technology and further her education by taking future online classes.

Yvonne advises students, "N ever give up. Set goals and don't let anything get in your way. SVCC has some amazing teachers that encouraged me in so many positive ways!"
