About NoRTEC 
NoRTEC (Northern Rural Training and Employment Consortium) is a regional Workforce Development Board in California funded by the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. 

The NoRTEC Workforce Development Board is led by private industry representatives from Butte, Del Norte, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Tehama and Trinity Counties.

GMI in the Sacramento Business Journal!

Th e North State Grow Manufacturing Initiative (GMI) has provided a model for a similar program emerging in the Sacramento Valley. The Sacramento group has been building a program based on the best practices of the North State GMI.
 
GMI, which is sponsored and staffed by NoRTEC, is a partnership of North State manufacturers who have come together to address the needs of their industry.  Other partners and sponsors of GMI include California Manufacturing and Technology Consulting, Butte College, Shasta College, CSU Chico and PG&E.
 
In addition to providing a forum for local manufacturers to collaborate, GMI has a developed a “train-the-trainer” program for high school teachers, organized factory tours for students and hosted an annual Manufacturing Expo.
