In 2016 a
Satsang
held in the divine presence at Singapore. A youth asked how can one stay unaffected by all the negativity around us.
And here is what Swami said:
You find different people and situations in different places, which is normal and a part and parcel of life. You must constantly remember the name of the Lord. Namasmarana (repetition of the Lord’s name) and seva are two ways that can take you across the ocean of life without any problems. What does it take to do namasmarana? As you are walking or talking, let your mind start chanting. Let the name be ingrained in you. Mosquitoes are everywhere. When you apply mosquito balm on your hand, the mosquitoes will not come near and bite you. Similarly, chanting the name of the Lord is like a protective cover. Even if you walk in the most difficult or dirty areas, the mosquitoes will not come and bite you. With practice, one can achieve these things. With every breath you take, chanting ‘Sai Ram’ is crucial. Mental proximity to God is important. With your mind constantly connected to God, you will not have time for anything else.
