Xaverian Missionary Declared "Venerable"
(
Vatican News, May 19, 2018) [Pope Francis confirmed] "the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Pietro Uccelli, professed priest of the Pious Society of Saint Francis Xavier for the Foreign Missions (Xaverian Missionaries); born in Barco di Bibbiano, Italy, on 10 March 1874, and died in Vicenza, Italy on 29 October 1954."
"Every Saint is a child of their times and their spirituality typically reflects the times in which they lived; nevertheless, there is something common to every time and spirituality, a fixed point, a central and supporting pillar: an intimate relationship with Christ..."

Our parishes and families are deeply affected over sweeping changes happening in the practice of the Catholic faith. Large numbers of young people are leaving the Church, many are disconnecting from any form of institutional religion, and in some cases, in belief in God. Young and older are seeking meaning, community, and inspiration in a society where religious affiliation is declining and new forms of social engagement are rising. How can we as Catholics understand more deeply what is going on, and how do we respond? How do we pass on our faith tradition to a new generation? Come join us from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Free will offerings are welcome to help with expenses of the day.)

Jesus wanted to give it to us. To receive it, it is not necessary to give anything in return, you just have to be prepared, willing to accept it. This gift is the strength of God , that ability that God gives us to live life with serenity, peace, joy ... and a lot of inner strength, that which comes from deep within ourselves and which no one can take away from us.

Inauguration and Blessing of
New Church in Thailand
[On] 28 April, the new parish church of Saint Joseph the Worker was inaugurated and blessed by the bishop of Nakhon Sawan, Joseph Pibul Visitnondachai. The church is located in the KM 48 village, which is so named because it is located 48 kilometers from Mae Sot, the nearest town.

Prayer for Father's Day
Loving God, we pray for those fathers
Who suffer the injustice of a job
With wages insufficient to care for their family's needs.
We pray for fathers who work
But cannot earn a salary
Allowing them to live above the poverty level.
We pray for fathers forced to take two low-paying jobs
To house and feed their families.
We pray for fathers who cannot find decent work with decent pay.
The teaching of our faith emphasizes that work is central
To the development of human dignity
And the full personhood of all people.
We are called to ensure that our government develop policies
That provide all who can work with decent jobs at decent pay.
Help us respond to this challenge with joy, not fear,
Knowing that Christ, who worked as a carpenter
With his father, walks with us.
Amen.
