Tishomingo County, among CDC list, targeted for Opioid Funding::
HRSA/FORH plans to award up to 75 grants to rural communities as part of a new Rural Communities Opioid Response (Planning) initiative in FY 18.
Successful awardees will receive up to $200,000 for one-year to develop plans to implement opioid use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery interventions. The initiative will focus on the 220 counties identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as being at risk ( PDF – 158 KB), as well as other high risk rural communities. This initiative is part of a three-year Rural Communities Opioid Response initiative by HRSA aimed at supporting treatment for and prevention of substance use disorder. Please watch www.hrsa.gov and www.grants.gov for the Notice of Funding Opportunity anticipated later this spring, 2018. NACHC 340B Manual Update Available
NACHC's 340B Manual for Health Centers has been significantly updated and expanded to reflect recent developments and common questions. There are new chapters on prices and savings and on the C-suite role in 340B. In addition, discussions of the HRSA database and interactions among 340B, 330, and Medicaid have been updated and expanded.
 
The second edition is available on MyNACHC . Organizations that purchased the first edition are eligible to receive the second edition for free; to access it, log onto MyNACHC using the same credentials used to purchase the first edition and click "launch" on the 340B Manual page. NACHC is offering a three-part webinar series to occur May 1, 4, and 8 addressing the Operational Site Visit (OSV) Protocol. These webinars will be delivered from the perspective of OSV reviewers and health center leaders who have prepared for and experienced the OSV since February 2018, which was the start of the latest version of the OSV, including the new performance analysis activity. New Opioid Funding Opportunities:
BD Helping Build Healthy Communities aims to identify, award, and share successful community health innovations with other safety net providers, officials, and the public to generate awareness of health centers’ unique ability to address community needs.
Up to five (5) Awards of $200,000 each will be made in 2018 for Medication Therapy Management Programs.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Organizations from all 50 states, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands are eligible to apply
  • Applicants must be federally-qualified health centers, or look-alikes, and NACHC member
  • Regional health center consortia and statewide associations are not eligible to apply
  • Past Award winners may reapply if they have not received funding the past two award cycles

Equipment, outreach programs, staff positions, screening and education materials are just a few examples of grants given. Health education programs for at-risk children and their parents, support for the critically ill, AIDS/HIV education programs, and nursing scholarships have all received awards in the past decade. Specific institutions and specific programs, rather than national organizations, are usually given priority.
