RDGA FOUNDATION'S
FORESIGHT
JUNIOR
GOLF PROGRAM
IS LOOKING for a
FEW GOOD KIDS!
In its first year, the
ForeSight Program
engaged more than 60 area junior golfers between the ages of 7 and 15. Last year,
ForeSight
increased that number to 100 young people.
This year, the ambitious goal is to involve more than 150 young golf enthusiasts from around the Rochester area, by providing them with complimentary summer passes to the three Monroe County Parks Department-run golf courses and participating in the Program. Although most of the spots available for
ForeSight
consideration each year are filled through the screening of local High School physical education classes where golf is taught as part of the curriculum, some spots remain open due to the expansion of the program this year.
Parents and students throughout the Rochester area who are looking to become more involved in golf - particularly those juniors who have little or no experience in the game - are invited to apply to the RDGA in order to be included in this year's
ForeSight
roster. Parents should contact the RDGA at 585-292-5950 for more information about how to apply.
ForeSight - and find out how YOU can get involved!

2018 U.S. KIDS GOLF LOCAL SPRING
TOUR OPENS THIS WEEKEND!
THERE'S STILL TIME TO ENTER
ONE OF 6 EVENTS FOR KIDS AGES 5 TO 14!
U.S. Kids Golf - a nationally-based organization promoting junior tournaments - returns to the Rochester area for a 6-event U.S. Kids Golf Local Spring Tour, running now through the end of May.
Due to open this past Sunday, April 15, at Ravenwood Golf Club in Victor, parents arrived with their kids; juniors were ready to play - but Mother Nature had other ideas, forcing postponement of the Spring Tour season-opener to a later date.
Although the weather disappointed those who had signed up for the season-opener, the good news is, that that means more Rochester-area juniors can still sign up to enter the season-long points race, in which top players get to go to Pinehurst, North Carolina for the U.S. Kids Golf World Championships!
The 2018 U.S. Kids Golf Rochester Spring Tour is open to boys and girls, ages 5 to 14, providing opportunities to learn and play golf in age-appropriate competitions. Boys, ages 5 to 10 and Girls, ages 5 to 11, will play 9-holes each event, while Boys, 11 to 14 and Girls, 12 to 14, will play 18 holes each event.
U.S. Kids Golf held its first Local Tour in the Rochester area last Fall, with another six-event schedule that included a Local Tour Championship also hosted by Ravenwood, which determined the final standings for all six events in the series.

Late last year, the
Rochester District Golf Association hosted two informational seminars at
Oak Hill Country Club to introduce the next-generation scoring system being provided by the
USGA to our
Member Clubs.
If your club was unable to send a representative to one of these sessions, there is one more opportunity for your Club's management to attend a smaller training session at the RDGA office this spring.
Here is the remaining in-house training session being offered:
Friday, April 6 - (10:00 am - 1:00 pm)
There is room for 15 people to attend this session, on a first-come, first-served basis. In order to avoid overbooking, please email
Ryan Mehnert
at the RDGA office (
ryanmehnert@RDGA.org
) with your Club Name, your party size (maximum of 3), and which date you wish to attend. We ask that you bring one laptop per group for interactive training.
