Julianna's Story...
Julianna came to Saint John's straight from treatment on September 18th, 2017, as there was no other place to go. Coming from a life of domestic violence and addiction, her partner was incarcerated for attacking her in her seventh month of pregnancy. And because of her addiction, CPS took custody of her children, and gave her little to no hope that she would ever get them back. Reunification, they told her repeatedly, was not possible, as she had burned too many bridges, made too many mistakes.
Seeing and speaking with Julianna today, this is not the story that one would think lies behind this strong woman with that beautiful smile...

Hugo and Erin volunteering at Guest Chef Dinner in August |
|
Volunteer Spotlight - Erin Uribe
Working as a Freelance Marketing Consultant with a non-traditional work schedule, Erin volunteers twice a week in the Career Education and Placement Center helping with computer literacy classes.
In addition to working hands-on with the women here at Saint John's,
Erin has also used her marketing and design background to transform our computer lab into an inspirational work space for the women. When Erin isn't in the computer lab, she's in the Child Development Center or helping with our monthly guest chef dinners with her husband Hugo.
In life, there are no sure bets, except that people like you will rise to the occasion and make the world a better place. Thank you for making our world a better place, Erin!
"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around."
- Leo Buscaglia

DONATE MONEY OR GOODS Saint John's relies heavily on donations from our community. Your financial support of Saint John's crucial. We also need your support in providing clothing for school and/or for job interviews, diapers or feminine hygiene products, and/or an unused vehicle. These are all donations that will make an enormous impact on a woman or child's life.

|
By dining at Plates Midtown or Plates Cafe, or by choosing Plates to cater your next event, you are not only eating fresh and locally sourced food, you are also supporting the employment training of Saint John's women, contributing to the success of the program as a whole. 100% of proceeds directly support women working to recuperate and reengineer their lives.
