A Message from the  Superintendent

Dear Lovejoy Community:

As the 2018-2019 school year comes to a close, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to educate your students. This school year has been one of abundant successes. As one of the highest performing school districts in the State of Texas, Lovejoy remains a destination district where parents entrust us with extraordinary students. Our team of dedicated educators and staff members provides enriching experiences in which students may excel in academics, fine arts, athletics, and extracurricular activities. We thank you for your support and partnership, and look forward to the 2018-2019 school year. If we may be of assistance during the summer, please feel free to call on us.

Senior Signing Day

Yesterday was a great day of celebration in honor of the Class of 2018 with Senior Signing Day at Lovejoy High School. The Class of 2018 was awarded approximately $22,000,000 in scholarships.

I recently had the pleasure of co-presenting a scholarship from the Texas Association of Community Schools to Parker Johnson who will be attending The University of Alabama.

Senior Signing Day was also an opportunity for our Seniors to share their plans for the upcoming year. The Class of 2018 will explore a wide variety of opportunities at over 90 institutions of higher learning. We are looking forward to their future accomplishments.

Lovejoy High School
Senior Traditions

Lovejoy High School is very rich in traditions. The Senior Parent Booster Club coordinates many Senior events, and last night's Senior Dinner is a great example of one high school tradition. I had the privilege of attending the Senior Dinner for the Class of 2018 and their parents. It is always a very special evening.

The boosters also coordinate the Baccalaureate ceremony, the Senior Breakfast and the Senior Walk. The Senior Walk is a tradition wherein the Seniors enter Lovejoy High School as a group on the first day of their senior year and exit Lovejoy High School together on the last day of the senior year.

I am so proud of the Class of 2018.

Class of 2018

You are invited to attend the Lovejoy High School Class of 2018 Graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 2nd. The event will begin at 10:00 AM at the Allen Event Center. The 2018 Valedictorian is Brandon Su and the Salutatorian is Anthony Tang. We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2018.

World Affairs Council
Twenty Under 20

Lovejoy High School Senior Gabriella DiLiegro was recently named to The World Affairs Council Twenty Under 20. The World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth brings a spotlight to young people in North Texas who consistently give back to their communities and exemplify what it means to be a globally-aware citizen.

Gabriella was accepted for a summer apprenticeship with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) in Vicksburg, Mississippi, helps solve the nation's most challenging problems in civil and military engineering, geospatial sciences, water resources, and environmental sciences for the Army, Department of Defense, civilian agencies, and our Nation's public good.

As one of the most diverse engineering and scientific research organizations in the world, ERDC conducts research and development in support of the Soldier, military installations, and the Corps of Engineers' civil works mission, as well as for other federal agencies, state and municipal authorities, and with U.S. industries through innovative work agreements.

Safety and Security

Safety and security remain our highest priorities. We have specific plans at each campus in response to a security breach. We continue to consider additional measures to address both the perception of safety, as well as the actual safety on every campus.

We would like to ask for your assistance. If you have information about a threat to the safety of a student, staff member, campus, or the district, we ask you to report it. SafeSchools is our online safety compliance program, which is specifically designed for school use, incident management, and bullying reporting. This program allows students, staff, and parents to report tips on bullying, harassment, intimidation, weapons, drugs, or other threats to school safety by e-mail, via website, text, or by calling 469.919.5861. This system allows us to stay connected and to prevent incidents before they occur. Staff are immediately notified of every tip, and can effectively track and manage incidents to resolution in this web-based system. Multiple administrators throughout the district monitor submissions to assure entries are addressed in a timely manner. Once a tip is entered, tipsters can easily check on the status of their tip and remain anonymous. School officials are notified through e-mail when tips are created and/or updated.

Posters are displayed in every classroom and hallways throughout each of the Lovejoy campuses, providing information as to how to enter a tip.

If you have information about a threat to our safety, do your part and report it. Please remember, you may remain anonymous.

As always, your questions, concerns, and suggestions regarding school security are welcome. Please email, text or call me with your thoughts. My cell number is 972.415.8129.
