Parent Newsletter 4/16/18
Headmaster's Update:
  • Capital Campaign Match: We have crossed the threshold of $2,000,000 for the Faith & Tradition capital campaign! This is great news given the momentum gain since starting just a few months ago! Speaking of momentum, a generous donor has stepped forward with a dollar-for-dollar matching challenge of $500,000. For every $10 (or $100) you give, the donor will give $10 (or $100) - effectively doubling your gift. Please advertise the match among your friends and family members who know and love Saint Agnes School and Church.
  • Renovations of the Convent: We have begun convent renovations, and the rooms are beginning to take shape on first and second floors. Many new walls have been framed, and rough in for plumbing and H/VAC has begun. We are on track to welcome sisters in early August. In fact, I have begun communicating with the Saint Agnes "Mission Superior" who will be in charge of the sisters in our convent and school. Please add the sisters to your prayers (if you have not already done so)!
  • Handicapped Space in Front of School: Please leave the space in front of the school between the handicapped signs open and available for our families with handicapped needs. I have received several reports of people stopping or parking in the space, preventing our families with handicapped needs from parking in the space. These concerns have been articulated on multiple occasions. We do not want to take additional steps to ensure the availability of this space and appreciate your cooperation.

Update from the Parent Liaison Group
The Parent Liaison Group serves to facilitate communication between parents as a larger community and the school's administration, and serves as a resource for the administration to discuss ideas and get feedback from a group of representative parents. Topics at the April meeting included: updates on the Dominican Sisters coming, the convent renovation and capital campaign, and the addition of Seton Montessori Preschool. The group also discussed ongoing concerns with misuse of the handicapped parking zone in front of the school, the inclement winter weather decision-making process (i.e. hold school, late start, cancellation), and how to increase awareness of mental health concerns for the student body. The membership of the PLG is listed on the school's website, and members may be contacted if you'd like to learn more about any of these topics discussed or have questions or concerns brought to the administration. The PLG is scheduled to meet once more in June of this year.
