A few spots remain for our 13th annual
Golf Tournament!

Hear from alumni Luke Jareczek and
Christopher Nelson -
both Class of 2007!

AND...Deaf Olympic Gold Medalist and
Professional Golfer, Kaylin Yost, will be there!

The 13th annual Child's Voice Golf Tournament is Tuesday, June 12th at Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton.  This fundraiser helps Child's Voice continue to positively change the lives of children with hearing loss and their families.  In addition to 18 holes of scramble golf, the tournament also allows golfers to interact with alumni and current Child's Voice students.   Not a golfer?  No problem!  We encourage everyone to attend the reception, dinner and program with great food and drink, a live auction, raffle and excellent
testimonials given by  Child's Voice alumni.

The children are learning about a zoo theme in the toddler group. They have made a snake craft, played zoo vet, and our animals even took a turn on the slide.

Parents are practicing offering choices to promote language development.

Child's Voice has also welcomed Nicoletta as a volunteer. Welcome Nicoletta!

Wood Dale
One of the moms in our Baby Voices Group is being followed by a documentary crew from Phonak to help people experience what life is like with 3 young children, two with hearing loss. They will come to Child's Voice in Wood Dale to document the family's time in our group. We are thrilled to show Child's Voice to a wider audience! Lovin' Literacy -
Selecting Books For Your Child
How do you know if a book is appropriate for your child?  Is it too easy?  Will your child become frustrated?  Here are some simple steps to try:
  1. Choose a book that you think you will enjoy;
  2. Read the second page;
  3. Hold up a finger for each word you are not sure of, or do not know - if there are five or more words you did not know, you should choose an easier book.
Still think it may not be too difficult?  For more information,  Click Here

Audiology Update - MED-EL announces FDA approval of RONDO 2
With just one simple on/off button and automatic volume control, RONDO 2 is easier to use than any other audio processor. Simply place RONDO 2 on the charge pad and it will charge automatically without wires or cables, eliminating the need for disposable batteries.  The rechargeable battery charges in 4 hours and provides up to 18 hours of battery life, enabling all-day hearing. RONDO 2 connects seamlessly with Bluetooth neckloops and hearing induction loops to provide optimal hearing in noisy environments.  The RONDO 2 is expected to be available in the Fall.

Social Work Corner
Are you worried about losing the structure provided by the school year? Here are some Summer Survival Tips from the Illinois Service Resource Center (ISRC).
  1. Develop a list of contact information from friends from school. Set up some play date exchanges before the school year ends;
  2. Review the Recreation and Leisure Page of the ISRC Resource Directory for potential camps and summer activities;
  3. Visit the ISRC Library catalog;
  4. Establish a visual calendar of events to assist with predictability.

Law Enforcement Card
We recently posted this on our social media accounts and had very positive feedback. With the kids out of school, and doing more driving, this is great information to have in the car. Thank you to the State of Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission for sharing this document!
Fundraising Corner!
Host a Jeans Day
Is your corporation or social group looking for a fun way to encourage employees/members to give back?  Why not host a jeans day(s)?  Employees donate money (typically $5 per day) in exchange for the pleasure of wearing jeans to work. In 2017, we received over $3,000 in Jeans Day donations!

Donation Dish...Where are donations currently going?
Currently we are raising money for SMART Boards in each classroom.  These boards are making a big impact in class and the students love them. We are so grateful for your investment in this! Thanks to you and many civic partners, we have installed 5 boards - ONLY 4 more to go!  Thank you for your support!
