This special, members-only event will feature the long-awaited unveiling of IMPRINTS, the first publication of Northwoods Press! This NBG community project has been three years in the making and has required over 1500 volunteer hours to produce. We will celebrate the writers, artists, letterpress setters and printers, and binders who joined together to create the drumleaf-bound book, its clamshell casement, and the colophonic booklet. Imprints p atrons will receive their copies of IMPRINTS at the event.

Although all copies of IMPRINTS are pre-sold, broadsides of the 11 folio pages are available; each includes a letterpress-printed poem and accompanying print. Each limited edition broadside sells for $30 and is signed by its writer and artist.

Stone Weavings
Inspired by Beaver Creek
with Margo Klass

Last June, BLM Artists in Residence Margo Klass and Frank Soos spent nine days on Beaver Creek. Their trip inspired an artist book that's six feet long and structurally meanders like the river. At our meeting Margo will present an overview of the book which features a stone weaving on its cover and nine miniature books of writings encased within the book's panels. We will then create our own stone weavings as we explore ways to join river stones and twigs from our own Chena River.

Please bring the following:
Small cutting mat
Scissors
Tweezers
Awl
Piece of sand paper (~100 grit)
Waxed linen in color(s) of your choice (a limited amount will be provided;       more is available from Paper Birches)
We will provide stones and twigs, but feel free to bring your own, too!

Bookmarking Book Art:  The Colophon and the Left-over "i"

This blog entry discusses the colophon which has been a subject of great interest to many guild members. Here we found the term "colophonic booklet," the perfect term to describe the booklet added to IMPRINTS, used to list everyone in the NBG community who contributed to its publication.
