LEAP INNOVATIONS CELEBRATES 4 YEARS
From Phyllis Lockett, Founder & CEO, LEAP Innovations:

I am humbled and excited to share that this month marks our fourth birthday at LEAP Innovations!

When we launched LEAP four years ago, we were a small organization with a big mission: to bridge the gap between education and innovation, and create an approach to teaching and learning tailored to the individual needs, strengths and interests of each learner. Today, we remain committed to this vision, and to helping each and every learner reach their full potential. And every year, we get closer.

Over the past four years, LEAP has worked directly with nearly 120 schools across Chicago to implement personalized learning, impacting 1,800 teachers. To date, more than 150 edtech companies have applied to pilot their products with LEAP, and we've piloted 19 of them, bringing the best in edtech innovation to Chicago's schools. Our team has also grown - from a founding team of six, we're now at 30 and still going strong!

Our work with schools is already showing promising results. In the second cohort of the Pilot Network, students in a reading pilot gained an average of 2.94 test-score points over the comparison group. Put another way, a typical student in a reading pilot would gain 13 additional percentile points above a typical comparison student starting with the same score (i.e., 50th percentile to the 63rd percentile).

Because of Chicago's trailblazing educators and school leaders, generous and forward-thinking philanthropic community, and champions of innovation, our city is becoming a national leader in personalized learning - and our students are benefitting.
TUNE IN TO THE NEW LEAP INNOVATIONS PODCAST SERIES!
As a way of celebrating and sharing stories that inspire, motivate and challenge the work LEAP Innovation does on a daily basis, LEAP Innovations is launching a new podcast series that features stories on personalized learning, edtech piloting and teaching innovation directly from teachers, students, community members, thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and more.
