KMA Hosts Annual "Commissions Connection" Meeting

Four KMA commissions and the Kentucky Foundation for Medical Care Board of Directors met on April 27 at KMA headquarters to discuss issues of importance to physicians and the healthcare community. The groups also heard from Laura Krueger, health producer and outreach coordinator for Kentucky Educational Television, who discussed the upcoming Prescription for Health: A KET Forum , which will be held Saturday, Sept. 21 during the KMA Leadership Academy at KMA’s Annual Meeting. It will include a panel of KMA physicians discussing some of the state’s most pressing public health issues. Attendees also received a review of the Association’s advocacy success during the 2019 General Assembly from Cory Meadows, KMA Deputy Executive Vice President and Director of Advocacy.

KMA and MCHD Promote Hepatitis Awareness Month

KMA and the Madison County Health Department (MCHD) are focusing on Hep A prevention during the month of May, which is Hepatitis Awareness Month.

Today’s issue of the Richmond Register features an op-ed by KMA Public Health Commission Chair and Madison County Health Department Board of Health Chair John Johnstone, M.D., regarding the importance of Hep A vaccination. The Spring 2019 issue of Focus on Health in the KMA Communicator also features a two page insert for patients on what Hepatitis A is and how it can be prevented.

These efforts are part of KMA and MCHD’s ongoing partnership to improve public health, specifically addressing issues related to the areas of focus of KMA’s AIM for Better Care: Administrative Improvements in Medicine initiative.
