FEATURED STUDENTS: Valedictorians and Salutatorians
Last Tuesday, May 22, the District hosted its annual Valedictorian/Salutatorian Luncheon to honor the top achievers in our high schools. This year, 49 students from each of our comprehensive high schools and Hillsboro Online Academy were recognized for their academic accomplishments. They were joined by Superintendent Mike Scott, Mayor Steve Callaway, Chamber President Deanna Palm, and several School Board members at the event, where they had the opportunity to share their post-high school plans and favorite memories of their school experience. They also shared their words of wisdom for incoming freshman. Congratulations and best wishes to you all!

Congratulations, Retirees!

Youth Track Meet 5/31
Elementary students in our inaugural  Youth Track League will compete in their year-end track meet at Hare Field on Thursday, May 31, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Students will participate in the 100, 400, long jump, and turbo javelin. They will also learn how to stick jump from a U.S. Olympic pole vault trainer! The Youth Track League is part of HSD's Name, Strength, and Need efforts to provide positive, accessible activities for students and has been a great success. Come cheer on the students who have been working hard since Spring Break to prepare for the competition - they would love your support!

TedxYouth@LincolnStreet 6/1

Main St. Six students will share their thoughts on the theme: "Why Not?," which explores why we don't reach far enough or push harder in the pursuit of our dreams. For more information or to purchase tickets ($6 each), please visit the event's website.

CTE Summer Innovation Camp

As part of the CTE Revitalization Grant awarded to Hillsboro School District, Hillsboro High School will be hosting a bilingual CTE Innovation Camp this summer. The Camp aims to serve Latino and other historically underserved students and is designed to harness the strengths and assets, such as bilingualism, that students bring to the table. The Camp has 60 spots available and is free for students who are entering grades 7-12 in the 2018-19 school year. Registration is open and spots are limited.
