Alumna addresses National Honor Society Inductees
Alumna,  Josephine Arcuri Fanelli '82, principal of St. Theresa School in Pelham Bay, gave the keynote address at this year's National Honor Society induction ceremony on May 22. In her introductory remarks, President Sr. Patricia Wolf, RSM, said, " When I think about Josephine Arcuri Fanelli three attributes immediately come to mind: service, community and faith, and Mrs. Fanelli weaves them seamlessly into one single piece. That St. Theresa's school has doubled its enrollment since she became principal is testimony to her leadership and connection to the Bronx community."

SCA Wins NYC DEP (Department of Environmental Protection) 32nd Water Resources and Art Poetry Contest

St. Catharine Academy won the NYC DEP (Department of Environmental Protection) 32nd Water Resources and Art Poetry Contest which was held at Queens Theatre on May 24. They competed against more than 1,200 students across the five boroughs.

The two winning STEM projects were: CTE and how water therapy helps rejuvenate brain injuries (Molecular Hydrogen in Drinking Water Protects against Neurodegenerative Changes Induced by Traumatic Brain Injury) and a cell phone APP that helps measure the pH balance results in soil. People need to measure the pH because it affects most life forms, for example, a slight change in the soil's pH can kill entire crops; minimum alterations in the pH of the human body can cause health problems.
Samin Suba, a freshman, summed up the experience saying,"This was an unforgettable honor and great educational trip. It was an awesome experience beating 1200 students/schools plus I like learning outside the classroom."
