ROSEMONT OF VIRGINIAROSEMONT
Producing wines of the finest quality that showcase a great Virginia terroir.

What was once a working commodity farm that included orchards and tobacco fields, Rosemont of Virginia is now a working farm winery celebrating its 10th anniversary.  Located along the border of Virginia and North Carolina near beautiful Lake Gaston, Rosemont cover 450 acres, with 25 acres under vine.

The land was purchased by members of the Scottish Rose Clan in 1858 and remains in the Rose family after some 160 years.  In the 1970s the property served as a dairy farm and then lay dormant for 30 years, after which Stephen and Chandra Rose returned to the family land.  After considerable research and consultation with Lucie Morton, noted Virginia viticulturist, Rosemont of Virginia became reality.  In 2003, Stephen planted 32,000 grape vines across 22 acres.

FRANK'S SOFT SHELL CRABS CRAB
According to legend, soft shell crab season in Virginia begins after the first full moon in May, when the blue crab's shells mysteriously molt under the influence of gravity and the tides.  It seems that the April 29 full moon brought the soft shells back. This is a simple but delicious menu for preparing the crabs.  Perfect pair with a Virginia Chardonnay.

CHARDONNAYwine
The Love It, or Hate It Wine.

Whether you love or hate Chardonnay, it is the most popular varietal in the U.S.  And as the most planted grape in Virginia and in the world, it is made in a myriad of styles, often highlighting flavors of lemon, apple, pear and melon. Winemaking styles vary widely, although it is typically dry. It is often aged in oak, giving it luscious buttery notes, but it can also be lean, fresh, and steely. Chardonnay pair well with an astounding range of food, from chicken and turkey to white mushrooms and asparagus. It works beautifully with Virginia's abundant seafood, including crab, clams,  and oysters .
