Season:  Easter                                              emuc.ca

                   Rev. Kathi's Message:

"The ache for home lives in all of us. The safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned."
Maya Angelou

"Home is that place where, when you have to go there, they have to take you in."
Robert Frost

The very word "home' is evocative of many images - perhaps individual to each of us.   Home can mean that place where you grew up. Home can mean the place where you currently live. Homes can be built and broken. Homes can be inspiring, encouraging, sheltering or crippling and stunting.

For some home is not a place at all but a person. Wherever they might be will always be home. We might refer to our place of worship and the people there as our church home and our faith family. This is a wonderful testament to the deep, lasting relationships that can develop in our congregations.

At a funeral on Thursday, we were told several times how the deceased person was strongly rooted in his faith, despite many challenges. This was exemplified in his affirmation that he knew he had a home waiting for him with God when he passed. I found these words incredibly touching. For this man to live his life without doubt was an inspiration to all who knew him and as difficult as his death was for his loved ones, they also did not doubt that he was returned to his Creator and that brought them comfort.

Home is on my mind this week, because - finally - we are going to have a new one. The paperwork was completed last week, and we will take possession of our new house on June 18. Greg and I thank you for all your encouraging words, suggestions and interest as we searched. We never thought it would take this long, but some things are worth waiting for!

    • buying Fundscript cards and giving these to Mike Ogilvie to take to the Cupboard. In both cases charitable receipts will be issued.
