6-8 SPRING FIELD TRIP
6-8th graders are going on their Spring Field Trip to eastern Massachusetts May 15-17. We will be departing from Riverside on Wednesday morning after assembly, and returning Friday by 3:30 pm.

The primary reason for separating this trip from the 4-5th grade was to focus more intentionally on curriculum connections and make this an even richer learning opportunity for this developmental age of students. We are excited to have plans that include:
  • visiting the de Cordova Sculpture Park in connection with their study of pop art this year with Suzanne
  • 6th grade doing an engineering workshop at MIT in connection with their physical science curriculum with Mr. G.
  • 7-8th grade visiting the Harvard Museum of Natural History in connection with their study of climate change and earth science curriculum with Mr. G.
  • visiting the USS Constitution and Longfellow's Wayside Inn in connection with 7th grade studies of American History and 6-8th grade studies of poetry with Peter.
These are 3 full school days on the Riverside calendar. We expect that all the students are planning to attend, unless parents have communicated otherwise with us directly. Please let us know if your family has planned otherwise as soon as possible, as it impacts payment and other logistics.

Next week’s Monday Memo will contain a packing list, contact info, etc. Students will need to have $25 for one dinner meal in a restaurant with their class, and no more than $10 in additional spending money.

Thank you to the parents who signed up to join us on the trip, we are grateful for the space in your cars, your willingness to drive, contributions you may make toward parking or snacks, and your time supervising small groups of students for three days. Nelia will have details for you next Monday and Tuesday.
4-5 SPRING FIELD TRIP
4-5th graders are going on their Spring Field Trip to Maine May 20-22. Thank you to the parents who have signed up to drive and chaperone. The primary reason for separating this trip from the 6-8th grade was to focus more intentionally on curriculum connections and make this an even richer learning opportunity for this developmental age of students. These are 3 full school days on the Riverside calendar. We expect that all the chaperones who signed up in the fall and all of the students are planning to attend, unless parents have communicated otherwise with us directly. Please let us know if your family has planned otherwise as soon as possible, as it impacts payment and other logistics.

Laryssa and Hanna have shared a packing list and forms for the Ecology School directly in the boomerangs. Please let them know if you need another copy, and return the ES forms directly to the classroom before this Friday, May 10.

Laryssa and Hanna will be communicating directly with chaperones about other details this week and next.
