Gallery Exhibitions

Fifth Annual Erase Hate Through Art Exhibition
Exhibit runs through October 27
Erase Hate Through Art is an examination of the bullying and hate crimes through the eyes of the artist, presented to promote acceptance over tolerance. The show features the works of more than 50 artists. Erase Hate Through Art is sponsored by How Do You Like Me Now Productions Inc. Curated by Grant Myers.

Narrative Color: Cheryl Jones
Exhibit runs through October 27
Columbia Art Center is proud to feature the work of Cheryl Jones, who started drawing at the age of 10. She has always been interested in color - mainly bright, beautiful colors. She studied abstract acrylic painting at Columbia Art Center under the instruction of Robyn Gavigan and has been painting with acrylics for four years. She describes painting as being like telling a bedtime story to a child, and used this as inspiration for her exhibition. Join her as Jones journeys through imaginative places using her palette knife and brush to guide her dance across the canvas.

The Harper's Choice Community Association (HCCA) is pleased to announce that it has partnered with the Howard County Health Department to become the first Columbia Village to maintain Narcan in an effort to combat opioid overdose.

Learn how to use naloxone and you could save a life!
Using prescription opioids such as oxycodone, morphine, or drugs such as heroin and fentanyl can lead to an overdose. Naloxone is a prescription medication that reverses an opioid overdose by restoring breathing. With naloxone on hand, you will be equipped to respond and prevent death from an overdose. Obtain free naloxone medication and learn to save a life through Howard County Health Department's Overdose Response Program. For more information, or to register for an upcoming class, contact  orpresponse@howardcountymd.gov or call 410-313-6202.

Autumn's Splendor...

Trees contribute greatly to the value of our properties, but raking leaves is a chore we prefer to put off. If you do not mulch your leaves into your lawn, please remember to dispose of your leaves properly. Open bags of leaves and yard waste may be recycled on your regular recycling day. Please keep the following tips in mind:

> Bag up leaves and yard waste and place open PAPER bags curbside the evening prior to recycling day.
> It is a violation of County Code to blow or rake leaves into the street.
> Dumping in CA Open Space is not permitted. Dragging tarps of leaves into the woods behind your house is considered               dumping. Call CA at 410-312-6330 to report dumping.
> Did you know that Howard County has a "Rake and Take" program? Click here or contact the Master Gardeners at 410-313-2707 for information on this program.
