M&T Bank Continues Help Small Businesses with SBA 7(a) Loans throughout New Jersey

Funding is often one of the first things a small business owner needs. While accessing capital can seem like a daunting task, taking the necessary steps to research and prepare for requesting a small-business loan can greatly improve the chance for loan approval.
One option for small business owners is a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) loan.
The SBA generally does not make loans directly to small businesses, except in the case of disaster assistance loans, but the SBA guarantees a portion of a working capital loan made by a commercial bank, making it easier business owners to qualify for loans.
Since entering the New Jersey market in 2007, M&T Bank has continued its commitment to financing small businesses throughout the Garden State-something the bank has long been committed to across its footprint. During the most recent Small Business Administration's (SBA) fiscal year which ended in September 2018, M&T extended $172.6 million in SBA 7(a) loans-a 12.4% jump from the previous year.
New Jersey was among the many SBA regions that saw an increase in SBA 7(a) lending from M&T, with the bank ranking second in total number of loans, with 92 loans for $13.3 million.
It's no secret that small business is a driver of our nation's economy. The 7(a) loan program offers a flexible lending option to startups and other small businesses that might be unable to secure loans through traditional lending channels.
The SBA loans typically provide lower monthly payments by offering longer loan terms. In addition to 7(a) loans, which are often geared towards start-up businesses, acquisition and real estate purchases, M&T Bank offers SBA Express loans to help small businesses grow faster through by providing financing for working capital, equipment purchases, and acquisitions.
As of March 31, M&T Bank has made a number of 7(a) loans in southern New Jersey, specifically in Burlington, Camden, Cape May, and Salem counties.

It is theorized by psychologists that our level of respect for an individual grows exponentially when our level of engagement with them grows. Yet, it's not always easy to just walk up and engage, right?
With that in mind, I offer my proverbial checklist of a good networker's traits during the tie of engagement. Try one at your next event:
- Genuine Transparent & Sincere - Leads to an immediate increase in your "social currency." So often this type of person comes to mind quickly and likely receives a referral to a potential consumer.
- A Good Listener - Shows interest and enthusiasm for their topic of conversation.
- Helpful - Think deeply of ways you might assist the person with whom you are engaged.
- Thankful - Nothing surpasses the attitude of gratitude. This includes offering a gracious exchange at an event as well as (if possible) a handwritten note subsequently.

Campbell Soup Foundation community grants honor 12 N.J. organizations
The
Campbell Soup Foundation has chosen its 2019 Community Impact Grant recipients, with 31 nonprofits receiving a total of $595,000 - including several organizations in the food company's home city of Camden.

Steve Reynolds, a former Director at Gibbons P.C. who recently retired as Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary of Aramark and previously served as Senior Vice President & General Counsel at Alcatel-Lucent, has rejoined the firm as a Director in its Commercial & Criminal Litigation Department. NJ wineries bring home 45 medals in Finger Lakes competition
"It's good to have them recognize that our wineries are being honored for the wines they're producing," said Garden State Wine Growers President Tom Cosentino. "[FLIWC] always been a prestigious competition, and it's just a small glimpse of how our wines are being recognized across the country."

Atlantic City Rail Line, Dinky to resume 2 weeks ahead of schedule
New Jersey Transit announced it has accelerated the restoration of service on the Atlantic City Rail Line and Princeton Branch, or the Dinky, announcing that both rail services will resume on May 12.
The new date is nearly two weeks ahead of the agency's target date and fulfills the commitment to have these services operating prior to Memorial Day weekend.
