JANUARY/ FEBRUARY 2020

- A Message from Marjorie Vaneskahian Burr, ACO CEO -

I'd like to start off by wishing you a Happy New Year, but I realize that we are headed into February already! ACO's Staff is off to a fast start in 2020 and we haven't slowed down....

Our Board of Directors are meeting for their Annual Retreat in the coming days to set the course for 2020 and beyond. We have the absolute best, most dedicated and passionate directors at the helm and I am honored to be entering into my second year as CEO, serving under this amazing group of leaders. I want to personally thank them for their guidance and support. They are invested, involved and committed to serve your community!

Just yesterday I mentioned in our staff meeting that 2020 was the year of "YOU!" We (staff) tend to talk about what "we" do, mostly using "we" to represent ACO as a whole, not just as employees. But what is most important to ACO is YOU! YOU must be invested and involved yourselves for "we" to serve the families in need, provide programs to guide financial stability, and support our hunger and homelessness prevention efforts. As you move fast and furious into 2020, please remember that WE NEED YOU! It's a partnership, just like our logo represents- hand in hand.

I'd like to give you an inside view of our Goals and Vision, and ask YOU to help us achieve and move forward into 2020....

1. To grow and change with the needs of our communities, to be the leader in social services, and provide guidance and care to families who are struggling.

2. Maintain a strong and sound financial organization, being good stewards of our donations.

3. Recognize and value our volunteers and donors. It is YOU that make the mission possible!

4. Support and maintain a mission-minded, talented and committed staff to provide services and programs vital to our communities.

5. Create a timeline for the future of ACO, it's programs, facilities, partnerships and collaborations to end poverty in Collin County.

It's a big list, I know. But I assure you that ACO is strong, capable and up to the challenges ahead. I've been a member of the ACO Team for almost 20 years in various capacities and I feel knowledgeable that I have seen where the organization has come and know where we need to grow. I am counting on YOU to join hands with ACO as we move into 2020!

THANK YOU! And-Best wishes for a terrific new year!

ONE MORE THING...ACO Board of Directors last year made the official name change of Allen Community Outreach to ALL COMMUNITY OUTREACH. ACO has been serving ALL of Collin County in various ways for years as the need has come to our doors. This change from ALLEN to ALL is simply playing catch-up to represent what we have been doing- which is serving ALL COLLIN COUNTY! In 2020 you will see us drop the "EN" in ALLEN and do business more and more as ALL COMMUNITY OUTREACH. BUT- Allen is our home base. Allen gave us roots, nurtured our programs and services to let us grow. We aren't leaving Allen behind in this name change, but will embrace it! So watch in 2020, as we update our logo!

THANKS TO YOU!
ACO saw the need increase again in 2019 as more families requesting assistance came through our doors.
Thank you to everyone who helped fight hunger and homelessness by volunteering, donating, or by attending one of our events.  YOU MADE IT POSSIBLE to successfully provide our programs and services to continue our mission.

We can't wait to see what you can help us accomplish in 2020!

- Join hands with ACO and get involved  in 2020  -
Volunteer....We welcome corporations, service groups, families and individuals to join
us as we work together to make a genuine difference in the lives of the people we serve. Visit our website for all of the details on volunteer opportunities.

Supporting programs....there are countless ways to get involved. Read more about the partners we work with to offer assistance for income support, education and employment and ACO's growing "Working Families Success" program. Mentors, sponsors, and collaborations in our community, such as food drives are vital to supporting programs and services.

Your Donations and Shopping....supports families in crisis.  ACO has three resale stores all with different inventory. ACO depends on your in-kind donations of gently used household goods to offer families in need clothing and furniture, AND to stock the shelves in our stores for the community to shop and buy bargains which fund our programs.
