Project Day Spotlight - April 21
Here's an exciting opportunity for youth to make some fair projects! Project Day Spotlight will be held on Saturday, April 21 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Windom High School (enter through the east doors). Registration will be 15 minutes prior to the first session you're attending. There are eight sessions offered and youth can select three project sessions they would like to participate in. The sessions are FREE thanks to funding from the United Drive
Join us for the Southwest Minnesota 4-H Rabbit Fun Show on Sunday, May 6, 2018, in Olsen Arena on the Murray County Fairgrounds. Registration for the show will be from 10:30 - 11:45 a.m., with the rabbit show starting at noon. All breeds are welcome!
The cost to register is $2/rabbit for judging, and $1/rabbit for the Costume Class. There will be someone available to tattoo your rabbits from 10:30 a.m. - noon, at a cost of $1/rabbit.
Western, English, showmanship, trail, fun games, as well as other topics will be covered at the Lita Hottel Equestrian Clinic, June 27-29 at the Murray County fairgrounds horse arena. Cost for this clinic is $230, if registered prior to June 1. Registration is limited to 15 riders.

Registration opens on May 19 for Youth Exploring Leadership and Learning Outloud! (YELLO!) The event is open to students who have completed grade 6 - one year past high school and will take place June 12-15 in the 4-H building at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds! Registration closes May 7.
The 2018 - 2019 Minnesota 4-H State Ambassador team application process will open in mid-April. This is a fantastic leadership opportunity for youth currently in grades 10-12. Apply by May 20!
Help us grow the next generation of true leaders-vote for Minnesota! The Raise Your Hand campaign is a nationwide call to action for alumni and friends to "Raise Your Hand" and empower our youth with the skills to lead for a lifetime. The campaign runs April 1 - May 15. Each hand raised is a vote towards a $20,000, $10,000 or $5,000 award for the three states with the most hands raised.
The First Generation Initiative team is excited to announce a video contest to highlight the great work being done by 4-H'ers to recruit and orient folks new to 4-H! Submit your video by July 1 for a chance to win a $50 Visa gift card and have your video showcased at the state fair!

Tractor Supply's spring Paper Clover Campaign will run from April 11-22. Make donations online or in stores to help raise money for 4-H programs.
This year's workshop will take place June 15-17 and is open to youth in third grade and up, families, trainers, potential trainers, and youth and adult leaders. Registration information will be online soon.
Workshops will take place April 28-29 in Redwood Falls and May 5-6 in Wadena. This training is open to 4-H Dog Project trainers, potential trainers, high school age youth leaders and adult leaders who train in county programs. Register by April 20.
2018 Gopher Dairy Camp will be held June 10-12 at the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus. This camp is open to youth who have completed grades 6-9, but have not yet started 10th grade. Prior experience with dairy cattle is required. Register by May 25.
Livestock judging enthusiasts in grades 6-12 are invited to attend livestock judging camp June 18-20 at the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus.
The swine judges training clinic is designed for those already judging county fair 4-H swine shows as well as those who would like to get started. The clinic will be held at the animal arena on the University of Minnesota St. Paul Campus on April 14. Register by April 6 to ensure your spot!
Several scholarships are being offered for Minnesota 4-H youth pursuing post-secondary studies at accredited colleges and universities. Over $20,000 is awarded annually through a competitive application process. Visit the 4-H scholarship website to learn more and apply.
A 4-H dairy goat judges training is planned for Saturday, May 19 at the Benton County Fairgrounds. Adults (past 4-H age eligibility) who are interested should mark their calendars and register now!
New in 2018 - 4-H animal science members can participate in one of two options for Livestock Quality Assurance certification training: 1) Livestock Quality Assurance and Ethics (LQA&E) training, or 2) Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) training. All youth participating as state fair 4-H livestock exhibitors must complete Livestock Quality Assurance training requirements.
Register by April 6 for the April 21-22 training to be held at the Long Lake Conservation Center in Palisades. This training is for Minnesota 4-H adults and youth (9th grade and older) that lead or would like to lead training in shooting sports or wildlife.
