Spanish Immersion Through the Arts (SITA) Murals
|
|
This February the Spanish Immersion Through the Arts (SITA) Committee brought Visiting Artist, Adriana Morales, to Puesta del Sol. Ms. Morales ran art workshops in each classroom and in all grades. These workshops were entirely in Spanish. She introduced the students to either Pedro Linares Lopez or Rudolfo Morales--artists from Mexico. Using Linares Lopez or Morales as a point of inspiration, each child created a small piece of art. The individual pieces were then put together into murals. The murals were displayed at Art Fest, the Bellevue Schools Foundation Luncheon, and some are currently on display in the Puesta del Sol Office.
If you would like a souvenir of the mural your child made in class, we are selling postcards of the murals for $2. The proceeds go to the PTA and will help support the many great programs at our school.
To order send an email to: koan_maurer@outlook.com with the name of your child(ren)'s teacher and the number of postcards you would like for each class. (example: Alfonso, 2 and Medina, 2)
Orders must be received by 5pm on Tuesday, May 29 and will be ready for pick-up Monday, June 11. Payment is due at time of pick-up.

End of Year!

Thank You Bellevue Schools Foundation

grade students loved hearing about Dan Gemeinhart's books and how they were finally published. Congratulations to Dan, his first book
The Honest Truth
was voted best 2018 Sasquatch Award book by thousands of students in Washington State.
Checking Out Books - Last day for check out will be May 25
th. Each year I need at least 3 weeks to get everyone to return their books before the end of the year. As in past years, if books
are not returned by Field Day on June 15th, students will be spending Field Day time with me in the library.
* Classes will continue in the library until the end of the year.
Overdue or Lost Books - If your student has an overdue book, an email will be sent out with the name and cost of the book. Please make all checks out to Puesta del Sol. If the book is paid for and is found before the end of the school year, we can refund the cost of the book if it is $20 or more.
Volunteers Needed - It is inventory time in the library. Each year we scan the barcodes of over 12,000 books in order to update our book collection. It's an easy job, which can be done slowly from now until the end of the year. If you have an hour or so in your week to come and help out, you would be much appreciated.
