Metro Ministries Missional Workshop
Leaders from Fifth Street (Anderson) Chapel Hill, Old Bethel, and Shelbyville Trinity United Methodist Churches participated in the Metro Ministries workshop on Missional Food Pantries on May 12 th . Lydia Davis, Barnes United Methodist Church, along with Merlin Gonzales from Faith Hope and Love Community, Inc. shared a model of food pantry ministries that is relational, friendly, and a slowdown process. Barnes United Methodist Church and several central Indiana food pantries have joined in this more relational model where guests are greeted, visited with, and given the opportunity to share their stories. Resources are developed with the guests and follow up phone calls are made. The outcome is not “amount of food given away” but ‘’how many relationships were developed.” For more information about this model, contact Lydia Davis, 317-969-5908.
