Administrative Professionals Luncheon
Wednesday, April 25 - 11:30 a.m. @ Liberty Center
We would like for everyone to celebrate National Administrative Professionals Day on April 25, 2018 at Liberty Center with the Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce.
This year, and for the fourth year in a row, the event is being underwritten by Magnolia Place Health Care. Adam Ott is Administrator of this facility. The delicious meal is prepared by Executive Chef Amber Lawson and her team at Magnolia Place Health Care.
Administrative Professionals Week is observed world-wide to honor administrative personnel and office staff. The employees in our businesses provide the first impressions to their clients and customers, and the luncheon is an opportunity to let these employees know how much they're appreciated. We ask that you please make your reservations as soon as possible. In addition, we ask that the business owner or manager assist in providing gifts for the employees who attend. The gift is usually around $20-$25 in value.
A drawing is held during the event and these gifts are awarded to those in attendance. Tickets are $15. and no tickets are sold at the door. Serving begins about 11:30 and the luncheon is over by 1:30 p.m. Check in at the door, drop your ticket for the drawing, and go direct to the serving line. Chamber directors will be there to help you to your seat.
The menu consists of a salad with Romaine & Field Greens with dressing, oven baked ½ Cornish hen with cranberry and orange reduction and/or baked salmon with white wine, lemon & dill sauce, vegetable wild rice pilaf, vegetable medley, and artisan baquette. The dessert is your choice of fruit & berries with fresh cream, or pineapple upside-down bread pudding with cherry glaze. Sweet tea and water are provided.

Relay for Life
The Annual South Liberty County Relay for Life, benefiting the American Cancer Society, is set for Friday, April 6 from 6 p.m. to midnight at Liberty's Memorial Stadium (1629 Grand Avenue). The annual event raises money for cancer research, education and treatment. If you are not a member of a team, please come and walk with the Chamber. If you wish to donate the $100.00 for the walk and pay by check - please make your payment to South Liberty County Relay for Life and contact Mary Anne at 936.336.5736. Trash Pick Up
Volunteer efforts to help clean up areas of Dayton and Liberty are once again underway during April. The Liberty Woman's Club, in conjunction with the Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce will meet under the covered gas pumps at the old Thrif-Tee Food Center on Main Street in Liberty on Tuesday, April 17 at 10 a.m. Participants will work the area from Anne's Seafood on Main Street north to Jefferson Drive. Everyone is urged to help. If enough people participate, pick-up can include the Courthouse area and also MLK Blvd.

The Dayton Community Enhancement Committee has assembled a trash pickup event on Wednesday, April 18 from 5-6 p.m. Volunteers will meet at The Crossroads (beside Jack in the Box restaurant) on Hwy. 90.
Tall Ships 2018 Coming to Galveston
The Galveston Historic Foundation has invited the TEXAS NAVY ASSOCIATION to be involved with the "Tall Ships" event in April.
TALL SHIPS GALVESTON is a once in a lifetime opportunity for interested persons to be an integral part of this historic event by becoming a Texas Navy Volunteer. You will assist visitors and others to enjoy learning about the ships and being involved with the "TALL SHIPS" program. Galveston is the first port of call. The "Tall Ships Challenge" will make ports of call in New Orleans, Pensacola, Florida and Mobile, AL.

Lee College Events Coming Up
The community is invited to an open house on Saturday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lee College Education Center-South Liberty County, Hwy 146 bypass in Liberty. The event includes a preview day of the Kids at College Program, a summer camp program for kids ages 5-17. There will be information for students transitioning from high school to college plus free meningitis vaccinations. Tours of the facility will be offered.
Since the month of April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, there will be a free presentation on distracted driving following the open house. For more information, call 832.553.5660 or 936.334.8169.
Harvest Event Center
The Harvest Event Center, located at 9775 Hwy. 146 between Liberty and Hardin is nearing completion and will soon be available for use.
Anthony Landry and his team have been working diligently to finish the final details of the 6000 sq. ft. facility. The Center will provide 5000 sq. ft. of usable space for community gatherings, weddings and receptions, school, church groups, organizations and more. An Open House is scheduled for Friday, April 27 from 5:00 pm. - 8:00 p.m. with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce. There will also be outside events, including an Exotic Petting Zoo, a family friendly movie will be shown, public awareness booths and food and craft vendors.

- Liberty Street Rally (Cars, Coffee & More) on the square in Downtown Liberty. Meets on the 2nd Saturday of the month (weather permitting), 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. See classic cars, hot rods, motorcycles and more.
- Coffee with the Mayor. Held the third Thursday of each month. Citizens of Liberty are invited to have coffee with Mayor Carl Pickett and City Manager Gary Broz in the council chambers of City Hall. A fundraising event for the Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce. Chamber members, staff and board members broadcast news, sports, weather and events 6 a.m - 6 p.m. on KSHN 99.9 FM (2099 Sam Houston St., Liberty). Advertisements are sold by the Chamber to be read on the air. Advertising packages are $75.00 for a package of three ads. Forms will be available on the Chamber web site soon at libertydaytonchamber.com. Prizes are given away to listeners who call in with the correct answer to trivia questions.Chamber members and non-members can participate.

The Annual Business Expo is tentatively planned for the month of June.This event allows the public to meet with representatives from a variety of businesses and industries throughout the area, and learn about the products and services they offer. More details are forthcoming.

A NOTE REGARDING THE CHAMBER NEWSLETTER
Beginning with next month's May issue, we will return to a prior method of distributing the newsletter as a PDF file instead of using direct e-mail through Constant Contact. Each issue will be uploaded to the Chamber website, and a link to the upload will be sent to all members with a brief synopsis of the contents.
This method will allow us more flexibility when assembling the newsletter, and provide an improved appearance for readers. We will also be able to better manage our e-mail lists overall.
