April 28, 2019: Diet of Torda - 1568
Rev. Lehel Molnár
In 1568 the Edict of Torda proclamation in Transylvania was the first of its kind in history; the right for individuals to believe and worship according to their own understanding; for clergy to preach and teach the Gospel as they too, understood it. This is one of the cornerstones of our modern understanding of religious practice and belief.
Rev. Lehel Molnár, serves as Archivist at the Unitarian Headquarters in Kolozsvár, Transylvania (Romania). He is charged with the restoration, conservation, organization, development and administration of the 450 year old Unitarian Archives. After finishing his Seminary training in 1995, he was appointed to this position as well as to the post of Assistant Minister at the First Church in Kolozsvár where he served for nearly two years. In November of 1999, he was ordained a Unitarian minister. This year he is taking advanced courses at Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, as the Balázs Scholar.
There will be substantial Hungarian refreshments after the service.

Dear UUCM,
I am going to miss you. As announced by a special announcement last Thursday, I am leaving my position as Director of Family Ministries at UUCM. Here is a
link to that announcement. I will be around to finish up this church year until
my last Sunday on June 9th,
which is also Flower Communion Sunday and the end-of-year potluck. I care deeply for every one of you and wish you all many good years with whomever follows me to guide the RE program. UUCM is ready for its next step in creating a revival. Supporting the needed changes to RE will be part of this process.
What is my next step towards ministry? I have been on this winding path of ministry for several decades. I have had a pause to serve UUCM in its RE program and congregational transition period. Now I am applying for a program with the ACPE. (
https://www.acpe.edu/). I will share more of my story and spiritual path in future weeks for those who are interested.

Become a Worship Associate or Lead a Summer Service
|
|
We are seeking interest from those who like to help lead Sunday services! Being a Worship Associate is a rich and powerful way to deepen your experience of Unitarian Universalism as we work together to craft services throughout the year. Summer is a wonderful opportunity to offer a message or lead a different kind of creative service if there's something you've always wanted to share with the community.
The Worship Associates and I have created an interest form to clearly explain the expectations of these roles and invite those interested to reflect on a few questions as you consider serving in these roles. Please don't be intimidated by the process, we would love to have your gifts involved in the worship life of our community!
Interest forms are due by May 1, 2019.
