Snowlion Rep is
Theater
Made in Maine

We did it.  We shared three never-before-seen shows set in Maine for our busy and rewarding 2017-2018 season!

But without you, our devoted audience members, we would be alone in an empty theater.  THANK YOU ALL for filling our houses, applauding our amazing casts, and supporting local theater.

What's up for next season?  Read below for a sneak peek!

Sincerely,

ACTING CLASS
FORMING NOW!

Learn to be  SPONTANEOUS and AUTHENTIC in this fun, informative exploration of the spirit that infuses every performance...IMAGINATION & INSTINCT!

IMAGINATION & INSTINCT:
The Spirit of Acting Technique

Teacher Al D'Andrea and his students will use a variety of games, exercises, techniques and improvisations to take an in-depth look at how to develop a strong and fluid imagination and hone the actor's instinct to bring spontaneity and authenticity to the actor's work.  Much of the teaching comes directly from Al's studies with stage legend Stella Adler.

The workshop is ideal for experienced actors who seek to master their use of this important element of stagecraft, while beginning actors receive a strong foundation in understanding the many and varied aspects of these critical tools in the actor's arsenal.  The class is open to all, ages 16 and up.

PLAYLAB's wild ride -
OMNIPHOBIA
OMNIPHOBIA, a new devised theater piece that explores fear in modern society and all its ramifications, received its first public airing with rehearsed actors at April's PlayLab.  A valuable and stimulating talkback followed the reading.

OMNIPHOBIA is currently being considered for full production in our next season, so keep your ears open for news on this funny, frantic, fantastical look at all things fear!

Coming up next season???

Snowlion Rep prides itself on choosing to present works for the stage that speak to what's going on in society at the very moment of their production.  Thus, our next season is still being chosen, but one possible presentation may be the world premiere of the new musical Mesmerized.

Set in 1777 Vienna, Mesmerized
is the true story of Dr. Franz Anton Mesmer, now regarded as the father of modern hypnosis, and the scandal that erupted in 1777 Vienna when he restored the sight of the young blind prodigy pianist Maria Theresa Paradies using the radical curative technique and invisible force he called "animal magnetism."

The show plunges the audience into Mesmer's world at the dawn of the Age of Reason, populated with characters including Mozart, Benjamin Franklin, the Queen Empress of the Holy Roman Empire, and others - all 100% true encounters had by the infamous doctor, presented in dramatic musical theater format (with an ample sprinkling of humor throughout).

From the concert reading of
Mesmerized at PortFringe 2012
