Comment on "Sham" Monument Management Plans
BLM has begun public scoping* for Monument Management Plans for Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments in Utah that were illegally slashed by President Trump’s proclamations.
While we fight these monument reductions in the courts, we must still comment to support protecting monument resources in their entirety.
The scoping process is the way to record public outrage at a planning process that should not even take place until after court challenges to the monument reductions are resolved.

*The purpose of scoping is to identify issues, management questions, or concerns to address in a formal plan. Scoping gives the public its first opportunity for input about federal land management under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA.) The current scoping is rushed and does not allow sufficient notice or time for full public participation, HOWEVER, we must be diligent and submit comments anyway.

And, the courts stopped the BLM from arbitrarily staying the rule. But now, Zinke is at it again and we need to make our voices heard.The BLM’s analysis shows this new proposal will cost Americans more than $1 billion in wasted natural gas and pollution--and they’re not even holding public hearings to let us weigh in.
