SFWMD Expanding Access at the A-1 Flow Equalization Basin for Public Recreation

Public access to the A-1 Flow Equalization Basin (FEB) will be expanded starting Friday, April 26.

SOUTH BAY, Fla. - The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) is increasing recreational access at the A-1 Flow Equalization Basin (FEB) starting Friday, April 26. The A-1 FEB is a popular site for recreation including fishing and bird watching. The area is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Due to the popularity of this area, special use licenses will no longer be required to drive licensed vehicles within the A-1 FEB. Trailers are not allowed on the site; only boats using electric trolling motors will be allowed.

SFWMD owns or has easements on more than 1 million acres of public land. Following state law, the District allows public access on as much of its land as possible and seeks to expand public recreational opportunities whenever possible.  To learn more about the recreational opportunities available on District-owned public lands, visit SFWMD's Recreation Website at www.sfwmd.gov/community-residents/recreation .
