Yet at the same time, while classic rock lives forever, memories or lessons of Vietnam have not.
Polyphonic's two-part series, "How the Vietnam War Shaped Classic Rock" for the first half and "How Classic Rock Shaped the Vietnam War" performs a needed reevaluation on dozens of rock and soul songs, placing them back in their historical context and showing how the power and message of music evolved as the war descended into chaos and defeat.

In 2016, Brian Setzer visited Carter Vintage Guitars in Nashville and recorded this video. The L-5 was formerly owned by legendary Nashville musician Hank Garland. Garland performed with Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, Moon Mullican, Brenda Lee, Roy Orbison, Patti Page and many others. Beyond the great history of this instrument, it's a fine example of a 40's L-5. In 1948 the guitar had a DeArmond pickup installed by Gibson.

ARTIST AWARENESS
Grantis is best known for performing in Prince's groups 3rdeyegirl and New Power Generation. Guitar Player placed her among "50 Sensational Female Guitarists" in its May 2017 issue. Now, the Canadian musician is stepping out to release her debut album, Diamonds & Dynamite, which was recorded over a mere two days in Minneapolis. The all-instrumental album is a diverse mix of atmospheric, in-the-moment playing that combines at times with Indian percussion. Grantis relied on her PRS CE22, and a stacked pedalboard featuring no fewer than 21 stompboxes. The album flows with blazing riffs and ambient guitar tones that make eloquent use of effects, including an EBow.
