Scholarship Deadline April 30. Apply Now!
Deadline for submissions is April 30, 2018

The application package for the Major General Joseph D. and Sue Brown Memorial Scholarship program are available now. This scholarship fund honors Eisenhower School's former Commandant, Major General Joseph Brown, and his wife Sue, and their commitment to lifelong learning. The scholarship was established after their tragic death in a plane crash while Brown was serving as Commandant of ICAF.

The scholarship areas of focus are: (1) STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math); (2) Music; and (3) Leadership, and reflect the passion of Major General Brown and Mrs. Brown.

These awards are made possible with the donations by the Eisenhower School Spouses' Club and proceeds generated from other sources, including the Association's various fundraising efforts, membership, and I-Mart student store proceeds.  Proceeds from the Eisenhower Award Dinner and Gala will also benefit the scholarship fund.

The scholarship is open to children of Lifetime members. Membership forms are available on our website.  Download the scholarship documents below:

In Memoriam

Our hearts are heavy at the Association after losing a dear friend and former Association board member, COL Vernon Sones, USA (Ret.).  Vernon passed away on March 20, 2018. He served 28 years in the Army, earning numerous military decorations including the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, and Distinguished Flying Cross.

In the late 1970s, Vernon was a professor and department chair at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, during which time he became a founding member of the Alumni Association of the ICAF serving on the board until 2015.  His efforts promoting and supporting the Association included bringing important members of Congress and various military staffs to Association luncheons at the Fort McNair Officers' Club.  He hosted the annual New (Fiscal) Year Pizza Party at the Pentagon as well as for the incoming students at Eisenhower Hall.

Vernon was dedicated to giving back to his community and instrumental in moving the Association forward in many endeavors. We were fortunate to have learned from him and worked with him.  Our lives were made better by having known Vernon and he will be missed.

A memorial service will be held on April 7 at 11 a.m., at Immanuel Bible Church, 6911 Braddock Road, Springfield, Va.

Eisenhower Award Gala Postponed
The Eisenhower Award Gala originally scheduled for April 10, 2018 has been postponed. The decision was a mutual one between the Association and General Spencer.  We look forward to honoring General Spencer this fall to recognize his many contributions and achievements.

We continue our efforts to fundraise for the Major General Joseph and Sue Brown Scholarship Fund. If you are interested in making a donation to the program, please visit our website at https://icaf-es-association.org/programs/scholarship-program/scholarship-donations/.

2018 Class President Publishes Book
My Way!  proceeds benefit the General Joseph D. and Sue Brown Memorial Scholarship

Augie Casado, 2018 class president, recently published his book, My Way!  The book is a compilation of 365 daily emails sent to his sons.  " I set a goal of sending them a daily email for 365 days and after about a month my wife asked me to stop sending them because the boys weren't reading them. I asked my youngest son Alex if he wanted me to stop and he said no. That's when I knew I was on to something," Casado explained.

With 37+ years of military and civilian leadership and management experience to draw on, My Way! focuses on the things he knows best.  The diverse compilation covers it all - self-help/leadership/management/motivation/parenting, etc.

To purchase your signed copy, contact [email protected].  The book is $17 plus shipping.
