Message from the Superintendent & Principal
A large audience of community members, students and teachers were in attendance at Tuesday night's District 233 Board of Education meeting. Dr. Anderson and I would like to extend our gratitude to those in attendance, and to those who eloquently shared their comments. In addition, we want to reiterate a message delivered by administrators and members of the board:
Fine Arts programs, classes, curriculum, teachers - and especially - students are truly valued and cherished here at H-F. Our students take Fine Arts classes not because they have to, but because they want to: they have a passion for music, art, theatre and/or broadcasting. All of our Vikings deserve to have what they need to be successful, and we will continue to work hard to ensure that they do. Please know that your voices were heard and that another Finance Committee meeting is currently being scheduled to review components of the proposed Fine Arts facility expansion. As decisions continue to be made regarding capital projects and other events at our school, please stay informed via our
website and enewsletter. You can also reach out to us directly:
vmansfield@hf233.org, 708-335-5500;
janderson@hf233.org, 708-335-5540.
In case you missed it, our students and teachers put on a phenomenal celebration on Saturday, honoring
Dr. Eugene Parker, a world-renowned NASA astrophysicist. The performances were as good as we've ever seen here at H-F; everyone had a part to play and they played with excellence. Don't miss your opportunity
next week to see final performances from our orchestral and choir groups on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively. At H-F Stadium today (Friday, May 18), we will host IHSA Sectionals for Boys Tennis on our outdoor courts.
Lastly, to our juniors and seniors attending prom this Saturday night, please have fun and make good choices. We look forward to welcoming you there and celebrating this very special time with you!
-Superintendent Dr. Von Mansfield & Principal Dr. Jerry Lee Anderson

Important Reminders in Brief
|
|
- Attention, Driver Education Students: If you passed Driver Education this school year, but have not yet received your permit application, please pick it up in North Building Room 120 before the end of the year. You will not be able to get a permit application over the summer. If you have already received your blue-and-white paper application, visit the DMV by Thursday, May 31, to obtain your official permit. The DMV will no longer accept these forms beginning Friday, June 1. Questions? Call 708-335-5335.
- Attention, Vikings: After Tuesday, May 15, you must have money in your lunch account or pay with cash in order to be served lunch in the cafeterias. The only exception to this is students who receive free or reduced lunch. No lunches can be charged to accounts with negative balances.
- Attention, Juniors: Visual Image Photography is getting ready to take your Class of 2019 senior portraits! Sessions will be available in June and July this summer in the South Building. Visit this website to schedule your session... Unrelated -- but just as important -- please remember that Illinois state law requires that every student entering Grade 12 (your senior year) must have received at least one dose of Meningococcal vaccination (often referred to as the "meningitis vaccine") on or after his/her 16th birthday. Please be advised that the state-mandated deadline for your medical file to be updated is Monday, Oct. 15. Students who fail to meet this deadline will be suspended from school until the medical records show proof of the required meningitis vaccination. Proof of immunization should be forwarded to the Nurse's Office. Questions? Please call 708-335-5536.
