Dear CCGS Families,
We just finished our 50th day of school! The first quarter of school has flown by and we are so happy to see the progress that has been made. We had to so much fun visiting our remote classrooms today and joining in on the Halloween festivities. We also had a blast at our Halloween reverse parades. Some of our families really got into their decorating of cars and the students loved it! We hope you have a safe and fun weekend. Remember, we want to stay in school so please practice safe distancing and mask wearing on the weekends too!

Please add any October pictures you take to this album by 10/31. I will be creating our October video this weekend.

I hope you have a great weekend with your family!

We are excited to share the Family Robot contest winners below. Also, please check out the items in our school store because they sell quickly! Additionally, Ms. Becker has been hard at work recording students singing for our virtual Veteran's Day assembly. Please click on this link to learn more about how you can submit photos of a Veteran near and dear to you.
This student was so excited to be our shout out school prize winner! He got a special pencil and will be our pledge leader all of next week. To watch the pledge from home each day please visit our Google website.
Congratulations to Ms. Strait's class for winning the Golden Platter award this week and for following our four Cornerstones at recess! They will keep the Golden Platter for two weeks and I will join them next week for recess.
The above pictures are of our remote and in person students hard at work this week! Below, you will find Ms. Ripsch's Classroom highlight photos.

Mrs. Ripsch’s Classroom Highlight

We have had a busy and fun week in first grade! We were excited all week with the anticipation of Halloween! Throughout the week, students explored several Halloween books independently through Seesaw activities. We also celebrated Red Ribbon Week while learning about the importance of saying “no” to drugs by participating in our spirit days. We always love dressing up!
This week we started our 2nd quarter math and language arts outcomes. In math, we are using strategies while adding and subtracting facts to 20.

In Language Arts, we listened to Halloween stories. We discussed story elements and retold the stories using key details.

In Writing, we started working on our narrative paragraphs. We learned about writing topic sentences, three details and a conclusion to wrap up our narrative paragraphs. We wrote our first narrative about going to a pumpkin patch.

In Science, our room was ‘a flutter’ as we were learning about bats. The students were amazed while learning facts and misconceptions about bats. Our room was even transformed into a bat cave at the end of the week!

This week we also revisited our first quarter goals and prepared for Parent/Teacher Conferences by completing a Student Reflection activity on Seesaw. I am SO proud of how much they have learned in just the 1st quarter of school and can’t wait to see how much they grow this year!
