Tuesday, February 6, 13, 20, 27 at 10:45 a.m. Rhythm and Rhyme.
Sing-alongs, finger plays, puppets and more! For kids ages 0-3 with a caregiver. No registration necessary. Not a drop off.  
 
Thursday, February 1, 8, 15, 22 at 12:30 p.m. Lunch Bunch. Bring along a picnic lunch and enjoy stories and a craft. All ages. No registration necessary. Not a drop off.

FEBRUARY FOR CHILDREN
Saturday, February 3. National "Take Your Child to the Library Day." We're celebrating with a special Rhythm and Rhyme for 0-3s at 10:30 and LEGO free play from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Both programs are drop in, but not drop off.

Wednesday, February 7 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Half-Day Special! Games, crafts, and fun!  Drop off for kids in grades K-5 is only available with pre-registration. The Junior Room will be closed to all other patrons for the duration of the program. Ages 3-12. Please register.
 
Friday, February 9 at 3:30 p.m. Afternoon Game Buddies. Younger kids will be paired up with older TAB kids to have an awesome afternoon playing games. Please register. Not a drop off for kids under 10, parents must stay in the building but do not need to be part of the program.
 
Monday, February 12 at 3:30 p.m. Teen Nutmeg Discussion Group. Title TBA . Please register.
 
Saturday, February 17 at 10:30 a.m. Story Hour. Ages 2-9, stories, a craft and a snack. Please register. Not a drop off.
 
Sunday, February 18 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Family Skating Party at Kent School Rink. Join us for our super winter fundraiser! The Parents' Committee will have delicious food for sale and skates may be rented at Annie Bananie General. Tickets are $4 for adults, $2 for children, and $10 for families. Skaters must wear a hat. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Junior Room at the Kent Memorial Library .
 
Tuesday, February 20 at 1:30 p.m. Movie Matinee - The Incredibles (PG) . All ages. Not a drop off. Please register.
 
Friday, February 23 at 7:00 p.m. Teen Giant Game Night. Come for a fun night of giant games! Challenge your friends to our giant Jenga, golf and more. Snacks will be served. Grades 5 and up ONLY! Please register.

Congratulations Peggy Wilczewski!

Congratulations to Peggy Wilczewski of Gaylordsville! During the Champagne Stroll in November, she took a chance and won the Kent Memorial Library's Holiday and Winter Cheer assortment of warm and cozy items! These items were donated by the Library's board of directors and a chair/table hand-painted by Kent Artist Pat Gallagher to benefit the Kent Memorial Library. Thank you to Peggy for coming to Kent and participating in the Kent Chamber of Commerce's Annual Champagne Stroll.

Saturday, February 10 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. How to Create Better Videos presented by Spectrum CTV-192, Kent's local television channel. The staff at CTV-192 wants to show you how you can create better videos. During this 45-minute presentation you can learn how to plan, shoot, and edit a local production to share on CTV-192 and the web. Advanced and custom training courses are provided regularly to community members who would like to capture local events and content of their own creation. No experience is necessary. This free opportunity is open to anyone. Please register.
 
Saturday, February 10 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Henna Workshop. The Kent Memorial Library is happy to present a series of workshops on the ancient art of henna. Henna is an ancient form of temporary body art used by cultures across India, northern Africa and the Middle East. Join henna artist Elyse Sadtler on Saturdays from 4 to 5 p.m. for a series of five how-to henna classes to learn how to draw beautiful henna designs on yourself, family and friends. Each class will focus on different design elements used to create beautiful henna art. Classes can be taken as a series or as individual learning experiences. Participants will receive their own henna cone to practice with during the class. Cost for each participant is $20 per class. Henna supplies will be available for sale after the class for those who wish to further their henna journey. Call the Library for more information.

As the chill of January fills the air and we enter the bleak days of winter, the staff at the Kent Memorial Library is happy to offer a diversion to make things nice and cozy.
Adults are invited to warm up with a good book this winter and win a chance at a book bag filled with items to keep you warm and toasty! Adults will fill out a ticket for each book they read or listen to (including eBooks). The winning ticket will be drawn on Wednesday, March 28. The more books you read or listen to, the better chances you have at winning the prize.
If you haven't heard, the Library's director,
Donna Miller, is retiring at the end of March.
Come in and wish her well as she enters
a new chapter in the book of life!

Chess. Our chess boards and tables, inside and out are open to young and old, beginners to advanced. Team combinations are encouraged - for instance, grandparent and parent-child, co-workers, friends. All are welcome to use our chess equipment.
