"Ever-Faithful Gardeners of the Spirit" - Flower Communion
Rev. Barbara H. Gadon and others
May Sarton once wrote, "Help us to be ever faithful gardeners of the spirit, who know that without darkness nothing comes to birth, and without light nothing flowers." To celebrate flower communion, some of Eliot's gardeners will offer stories and lessons from the garden. Don't forget to bring a flower to share!  Featured musicians:  Gail Hintz, piano; Eliot Choir.

Our annual congregational meeting will follow this Sunday service
at 12:30 pm in the Sanctuary.

Sharing the Offering
In May, we will share our offering with the Missouri Budget Project, a nonprofit organization that provides independent research and analysis of complex state policy issues to ensure that advocates, policymakers, and the public have the information needed to create sound fiscal projects. Founded in 2004, MBP advocates in favor of fiscally responsible public policies that improve economic opportunities for all Missourians - particularly low- and middle-income families - by providing reliable and objective research, public education and advocacy. For more information, go to www.mobudget.org.

Kirk Care Needs Your Help!
The pantry for Kirk Care is starting to look BARE! This is the time of year when pantries across the country really start to struggle. It's a double-edged sword. The holiday season, with its food drives, is well over and those stores have been given away. Then, when children no longer have a school lunch, the demand for food at home increases. Currently, there is a need for chili, canned chicken, fruit, pasta sauce, cereal and peanut butter. Protein sources are important-think "meal." No one has to do everything, but you can do something. Consider putting a bag in your car that will spark a memory to buy one or more of these items that next time you grocery shop. Then, the next time you come to Eliot, just drop off your groceries in the small cart outside of Adam's Hall. And by the way, did you know that if you live in Kirkwood, you can check the Kirk Care box on your utility bill and add an amount to the total?

Nominate a Shared Plate Recipient
The Social Justice Steering Committee has a limited number of slots for shared plate recipients for the 2018-19 church year and welcomes nominations from the congregation by June 30. Preference will be given to local organizations with possibility for Eliot volunteer partnership and with missions aligned with Eliot's social justice priorities. Make your nominations online.

"Obituary" - Rev. Barbara H. Gadon
Anyone who has written an obituary has felt it - the urge to have the world understand and love someone as we did. "Obit," a 2017 film about the New York Times obituary writers, raises interesting questions about what makes a life noteworthy and valuable, and how we remember the dead. Featured Musicians: Women's Chorale and Dr. David Nalesnik, piano.

Note the last Sunday in May begins our summer worship schedule
with a single service at 10:00 am.

The ourEliot team promotes and enables healthy communications as promised to one another through the Congregational Covenant.
