October 5, 2020

What a blessing it is to be a part of the Forrest Burdette music ministry. We are so fortunate to have so many talented volunteers who continue to step up and offer their talents to provide the beautiful and diverse music for worship services. In the last few weeks we have enjoyed a small handbell ensemble, including three generations of the Barcroft family (Tene, Keyria, and Brody), a men's choral group for the first time in many months, a guitar trio offering a wonderful medley of old songs, a saxophone & guitar duet, and much more. Thanks to all these amazing musicians for continuing to offer their talents to the glory of God. And there is much more to come. In addition to continuing the weekly musical offerings, plans are already being made for a Christmas Eve service. Thanks to all of you for your continued support and prayers.

Our FB Blood Drives Need a New Coordinator
We are thankful that Jo Bess served as our blood drive coordinator over the past few years, and now she has retired from this volunteer position. Would you be interested in coordinating our drives? We hold anywhere from 2-5 drives per year. The coordinator is the liaison between the American Red Cross and the church. Before each drive, the coordinator schedules some of the appointments and finds volunteers in the church to help out on the day of the drive. Lastly, the coordinator is available during the drive to help as needed, from the time of set up to clean up (drives are usually scheduled on a weekday, 2:00-7:00 p.m.). If you are interested, please contact the church office. Our next blood drive is October 30.
Sunday Night Uth
October 11th & 18th - Outdoor Night for Middle School and High School, 6:00-7:00ish. Meet on side parking lot. Join us as we will be hanging out, talking scripture, and helping out with our Backpack Buddies Program.

Flu Shot Clinic: Next Sunday, 10/11
Fruth Pharmacy will hold its annual Flu Shot Clinic at Forrest Burdette on Sunday, October 11, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. This year, Fruth would like a head count from us ASAP. Please call or email the church to sign up (304-562-6103, office@forrestburdette.com). Most insurance pays for flu shots at no cost to the patient. Please bring a copy of your prescription insurance card. For those on Medicare, bring a copy of your Medicare part A/B card (your "red, white, and blue card") or your Medicare Advantage plan information. The cash price for uninsured is $24.99. You may pay with a check or cash in exact change only.

Operation Christmas Child
The need to send a shoebox gift to a girl or boy is greater than ever. Many people are going without essential needs. Due to COVID restrictions, we encourage you to send your box (or several boxes) online this year.
Click here: samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/buildonline. Building online is very quick and easy to use.  $25 includes contents and shipping. An additional $6 to add The Greatest Journey Discipleship 22 lesson Training, which multiplies the number who hear the Gospel. Another plus to personalize your gift is to write your letter and send a photo online. Pray for the child receiving your box. For those making a donation to OCC, a box will be built online for you by Beth Sauvageot. The amount sent can be noted on your church envelope.
The traditional option to pack your box is also available again this year. "To go" boxes and OCC information are available in the narthex.

Backpack Buddies Packing Volunteers!
With the school year having started, we are again serving our neighbors through our Backpack Buddy Ministry. Please consider signing up for weekly packing for our 3 schools. You can find the online sign up sheet by clicking here. Thank you to those who have signed up.
Through generous donations during the Covid-19 Crisis, we've been able to help stock up on our normal items for packing, but we always welcome any donations during the week and on Sundays before or after our live worship service at 10:30 a.m. This school year may prove to be the most needed year for this ministry, and we can always use your help and support, both financial and prayerful.

Please Continue to RSVP for In-Person Worship
Remember to call or email the church to reserve a spot at one of our in-person worship services each week. Services are offered Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Please contact the office by Friday afternoon for Sunday reservations. (304-562-5903, office@forrestburdette.com)

Live Stream Tech Volunteers Needed
To help continue our Facebook-Live presence for our 10:30 a.m. worship services, we need several volunteers to train and learn the process to help this outreach. We are blessed with the technology to be able to reach others for Christ in this new way. Please consider being a part of this team! Please contact Karen in the office or Pastor Jeremy.

Volunteers Needed for Quilting
The construction of baby quilts and Christmas Family quilts (Young At Heart Quilters and the Ruth Byrd Circle) has safely resumed on Tuesday mornings. If you are able to help with tacking and binding the quilts, please contact Karen Lilly at 304-562-9241. Thank you!

Remember the Cupboard
The Christian Community Cupboard continues to serve our community. Please remember them when shopping. Especially needed from Forrest Burdette are canned peas and canned carrots.

Would you like a set of offering envelopes?
Please contact the church office if you would like us to prepare a set of undated offering envelopes for your household (304-562-5903, or office@forrestburdette.com). We will mail the set to you.

Visit Our YouTube Channel

Your Prayers & Thanksgivings
We welcome your regular prayers and continued giving. Click here to access the online giving instructions from the Forrest Burdette website. Your continued giving to the church, as you are able, is important for us to keep paying our expenses. Thank you so much for sending your offerings! If not online, then please mail your regular offering to 2848 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane WV 25526. To save a stamp, you may deposit your offering in our locked mailbox on Putnam Avenue. Open the top door, and slide your envelope all the way to the back of the box, where it will fall into the locked area. Thank you for your support of this ministry.
