News On Wheels
Ask most people what color they associate with spring and they'll say green. Those who make their living on the highway have a different answer: It's orange.
Work zone signs are everywhere. And more are on the way.

MoDOT's crews and contractors have a busy schedule of maintenance and repair this year. Work is already affecting interstate traffic. How can you learn where the most impactful work zones are?

For quick answers, visit the MoDOT Traveler Information Map at www.modot.org. Look for the flagger signs. Click on them to learn what is happening at specific locations.

For a weeklong view, MoDOT offers a Trucking Corridor Report during construction season. Every Friday, from April to the fall, an email message lists the work zone locations most likely to impact a CMV driver's progress. Sign up by visiting https://bit.ly/2B66kO3 and choosing "Major Highway Incident." In addition to the weekly report, you'll get messages when incidents, such as crashes, block Missouri interstates or US routes for more than 2 hours.

For our coworkers' sake and yours, we ask you to take extra care when approaching, driving through and exiting work zones. Our crews and contractors are well-trained, but they are vulnerable. Our equipment is big, too. Crash into it and it's going to hurt. Thanks for doing your best to protect the folks laboring to improve your workplace.
2018 UCR Registration is Underway
Enforcement Begins in April
On January 5, the federal government announced new, lower fees for those required to participate in the Unified Carrier Registration program.
Because the registration process was delayed by several months, the UCR Board requested that states hold off on enforcement activity until 90 days after the new, lower fees went into effect - that is, until April 5.
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance adopted this position in a bulletin revised on January 23, 2018. CLICK HERE to see a copy.
Already, more than 70 percent of Missourians subject to UCR have completed their registration. That's smart. In many jurisdictions, the fine for a UCR violation exceeds the annual fee.
