Please mark your calendars for Saturday, April 21, which is Conference-wide "Imagine No Racism Launch Day." Attendance for this event is MANDATORY for all Clergy, Supply Pastors and Certified Lay Ministers serving churches. They are being asked to bring laity who are passionate about racial justice. The event will be from 12:30 PM to 4 PM  watch for updates in the coming weeks.

Seeking Youth Delegates to Annual Conference 2018

  



We are seeking youth (currently in grades 9-12) from the churches in our Mountain View District to serve as Youth Delegates at our Upper New York Annual Conference session in Syracuse, scheduled to begin in the evening of Wed., May 30 and continue through Saturday, June 2. There is no cost to the youth, but registration is required, and the youth delegates will be housed together at the Park View Hotel in Syracuse. Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event Training 

 On Monday, March 12th, 2018, Undersheriff McNelis presented the ALERRT Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event (CRASE) training to over 120 members of the Corning area clergy and lay-leader community. The training discussed security, planning and actions involved in responding to a critical incident event at a house of worship. Sheriff Allard stated "The training evolved into an open dialogue of concerns and questions regarding individual congregational issues. It was very positive and rewarding."

Three more regional trainings are scheduled: 
  • 2. April 10th, 2018 at the Wallace Wesleyan Church, 9079 Church Street, Avoca NY.
  • 3. May 8th, 2018 at the St. James Episcopal Church, Corner of Lake and Main Streets, Hammondsport NY.
  • 4. May 22nd, 2018 at the Victory Highway Wesleyan Church, 150 Victory Highway, Painted Post NY.
All trainings are free and begin at 6pm and last approximately two hours. You can register by calling (607) 622-3930, emailing [email protected], or by contacting the pastor of each site directly. A question and answer period follows the training for those that wish to participate.

The Upper New York Conference is looking for four youth members to participate in the Northeastern Jurisdictional (NEJ) Council on Youth Ministries upcoming Mission of Peace (MOP) mission trip to the Philippines next year. If selected, each youth member must raise money to support their MOP and, upon their return, share their experience. Click here to learn more and to download a fillable PDF to apply. Right Start Workshop- For Pastors

The Mountain View & Binghamton District's are once again teaming up to present the Right Start Workshop. These workshops are offered to those Pastors that will be experiencing a  change in their appointment or are retiring from ministry as of July 1st.

COST: The cost for auditing a class is $150. for clergy or almuni/ae  and $300 for others.

DESCRIPTION:   "This course is an in-depth study of Charles Wesley's life and thought. Charles "the other Wesley," was a major contributor and shaper of the Wesleyan tradition - in terms of his evangelism, hymns, and the challenges of living a happily married life in the midst of the relentless demands of ministry. This examination Charles' work will be set in the context of his life and times and based on a close reading of important primary and secondary resources. Particular attention will be paid to the on-going relevance of his work for contemporary Christian practitioners in the Wesleyan theological tradition."
