Keeping Families Close
Mission Moment: The Fleck Family

Thank you for your help during this difficult time in our lives. Staying here and knowing we had a place to stay took a huge burden off of us while my baby girl is sick. We appreciate everything that you do.

Though the weather over this past week may have us fooled, Spring has officially arrived in Indianapolis! On Wednesday, March 14 we kicked-off the season with our State of the House Breakfast and Annual Meeting.

We were pleased to present our inaugural Corporate Philanthropy Awards to partners CFH Enterprises and Safelite AutoGlass for their exceptional dedication to our mission and to welcome d
ozens of stakeholders, board members and state legislators into our House to discuss 2017 outcomes and plans for 2018. A big thank you to presenting partner, Indiana Member's Credit Union, who presented our House with a check of more than $8,000 from their debit card give back program and to the Osmon Familywho shared their incredible story and the impact the House has had on their journey.

Safelite AutoGlass accepts their 2018
Corporate Philanthropy Award  presented by
RMHCCIN Chief Advancement Officer, Kelly Thien.

As always, we are so thankful to our partners and supporters, just like you, who help make our mission possible each and every day. We have some exciting plans and events ahead. Be sure to read below and stay tuned to learn how you can get involved and see the impact of your support within our House!

The Adopt-a-Room program is a year-long sponsorship of a room or continuing care apartment at our Limestone and Riley Houses. The program provides families with much more than just a roof over their heads -- it helps to provide support, home-cooked meals and relief from their stressful situations. Most importantly, room partners are helping families focus on what matters most -- their seriously-ill or injured child.

This month we would like to recognize John & Karen McConnell John and Karen McConnell of West Lafayette first supported Ronald McDonald House by donating loose change they collected. As they learned more about the House, they decided to increase their support and became a room sponsor in 2017.  Karen said she's very glad families have a place to stay, especially during the holidays. Thank you for helping us keep families together and near the care they need!
Fun Fact #2: Did you know over  1 billion pop tabs have been donated since the inception of our pop tab program in 1995?

Pop tabs galore! Each July, we collect millions of pop tabs at our annual Pop Tab & Coin Drop on Monument Circle
That's equivalent to about $800,000 in revenue and it's all thanks to the participation of over 300 schools, individuals and organizations from across Indiana and surrounding states!

Every year we are able to raise about $20,000 from funds received from the recycling of pop tabs. Although the whole can is valuable, the tab has a higher concentration of aluminum and is much cleaner and easier to collect in large quantities than whole cans. Collecting p op tabs is a fun, inexpensive way for individuals, schools and organizations to get involved with the House and make a difference in the community.

Next month is Earth Month and we challenge you to collect 1982 pop tabs through the month of April in honor of our opening year.  Ready? All you have to do is follow 3 easy steps to start collecting:
  1. Find a collection container, this can be anything from a Ziploc bag to a milk jug, whatever is convenient for you. We also offer a limited number of small collection boxes that can be picked up at our Limestone street location.
  2. Place your containers in a convenient and visible location and start collecting!
  3. Once you've collected a large quantity, drop-off your pop tabs at one of the following locations: (1) Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana, (2) A participating Recycling Partner, (3) A local McDonald's restaurant [make sure to call before to check if they will accept them].
Want more information on our pop tab program? Visit our website! Thank you for supporting the House and the nearly 5,000 families we serve each year!

Around the House

Staying at the Ronald McDonald House = sharing moments together! For House kiddos, Annaleigha (left) and Acelynn Grace (right) that means sharing a delicious snack and using Mom as a jungle gym!

It takes a village to keep our families near one another and the care they need and we couldn't do it without the help of our volunteers and service groups!

Insource, Inc. recently stopped by to prepare a delicious lunch at our our House within Riley Hospital and our pals at TCC helped out around our House at Limestone with some cleaning, organizing and donation sorting! Thanks, friends!

Donating your time and talent to the Ronald McDonald House can be a rewarding experience and a real gift to the families staying at the House. Whether you are looking for an ongoing commitment or want to share a special gift or talent on a short-term basis, there is a way for you to make a difference at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana!
