March 2018  (No. 67)
Welcome to our newsletter.  Once a month we will update you with news about David Matero Architecture and our community. We welcome your comments, questions and feedback.
10 Year Anniversary!

This month will mark 10 years since David started his own practice in Bath. After many years in NYC, with RGR Roesch, and then 7 years in Portland with Stephen Blatt Architects. David and Greg Day began DayMatero Studio, a partnership in architecture and lighting design. They separated in 2012 to focus on their individual skills and David started David Matero Architecture. We have to thank our amazing clients, consultants, contractors and especially our amazing staff who have helped us on the way.
Tao Yuan Greenhouse

The arches have been installed at the Tao Yuan Greenhouse. The arches are actually fiber-reinforced plastic, and along with polycarbonate panels, will make up the greenhouse component of this project. The greenhouse was supplied by ArchSolar, construction by PM Construction.
Downtown Tomorrow

Residents of Bath and surrounding towns are invited to Winter Street Center, 880 Washington Street, Saturday March 3 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm to help shape our downtown. Facilitated by Good Group Decisions, this forum will help shape Bath's new Comprehensive Plan and re-focus the Main Street Bath program. Hope to see you there.

Alisson's Restaurant and Pub

We designed the remake of  Alisson's Restaurant and Pub in Kennebunkport 2 years ago. Because of the great response to our design, we were brought in to re-design the bar. Some older photos are here. Construction by Leo Richardson. Interior Design by Jeanne Handy Designs. Lighting by Greg Day Lighting.

Dobbelbloopers

Add these dates to your calendar, March 17 and April 13. These are the next 2 shows for The Doppelbloopers , Bath's favorite improv group, at the Bath Golf Club. The March 17th show is a St. Paddy's Day themed show with special guest, comedian Johnny Ater . You can purchase tickets here .

Continuing Education

It's not that we hate energy, we love it, but we hate paying for it. DMA will be busy the next couple of weeks at various energy conferences. Sophi is attending the North American Passive House Network Designer Training to become a Certified passive House Designer/Consultant. The rest of the office is attending Building Energy Boston, sponsored by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association. Each year DMA sponsors a student to join NESEA and attend the conference, pictured is David and last year's recipient, Miriam.

Views from the Jobsite

Sheetrock is being installed and painting is beginning at Goose Ledge in Harpswell. The masonry fireplace will be starting soon, the exterior chimney is beautiful. The screen porch in the photo is constructed of Douglas Fir . Construction by Oceanside Builders .
