What picks Heidi up?

When I feel down and life seems to close in on me, I lift my butt and go into the garden and see the beauty of creation all around me.

I have also learnt something so profound this week about a quote to say when I am feeling down.

It says: "Thank you God for everything". It does not matter in what situation I am in, I just repeat the phrase and my spirit is lifted.

Well what picks me up after a hard day is reconnecting with nature. Like a long quite walk on the beach picking up sea shells with the children or looking at tidal pools.

I love to walk around Kirstenbosch.  The birds and the flowers are refreshing.  There is always something in bloom

Actually I felt like that not so long ago........
But then I took a week's leave, and spent  five days in Langebaan at my sister and her husband's
Holiday house...  on the beach.  Lazing about, walks on the beach twice a day with my two
Whippets  - watching them run up and down the white sand beach.  Good company, good food,
Relaxed totally, and that has recharged me.  It is amazing the power of wind in your hair, sand between
Your toes, and the sound of the waves

What picks Nina up?

The easiest way to pick myself up is to pick up my camera and start taking photos.  I find that photography is relaxing, inspiring and motivates me.

So much fun can be had with a camera, as I look at life through a different lens.
